Wednesday

  • Right before this REALLY cold weather started, Fred very kindly drove me to the post office to return the "House MD" DVDs to Amazon and then, after dropping me at home, bought a few groceries so we are ok until it warms up again.
  • Long-time readers know that I usually walk up to the drug store to get Fred’s medication refills; I am happy to use the drug store’s free delivery in this weather!
  • Actually, although it is, at the moment, minus 1 degrees, I went out to fill a bird feeder and dump trash in the right place, and discovered it really doesn’t feel all that bad because there doesn’t seem to be any wind.
  • I have two bird feeders out. The large one holds a couple of pounds of seed and doesn’t need filling often but the little one was completely EMPTY. I emphasize this because I have never seen it emptied to the last seed before…
  • For some reason, my back is hurting this morning. This usually happens when I am not careful about keeping my back straight, but I have been careful… Anyway, I have taken a couple of OTC pain pills and I am being super careful as I sit here in front of my computer.
  • I cleaned the bathroom floor this morning, and yes, my back was straight…
  • I have finished watching the first four seasons of "House MD" I am now carefully NOT watching the present season because I want to buy it when it comes out and it is SO much better without commercials.
  • Oh, something interesting. I have the Ivory trilogy in Dead Tree Book format. It was one of the few books I brought with me when I moved here and is a trilogy I can read over and over. So, I was watching "House MD" yesterday and when it got to the credits, I saw the name Doris Egan as a writer, I think, in there. Now, that is the name of the author of the Ivory trilogy—could it be the same person? Doris is not a common name these days nor is her surname. So, I checked on line, and yes, it is the same person! Well, it was interesting to me, anyway!
  • A couple of days ago, I turn off "shuffle" on my Nano, and now I am really enjoying listening to "Angel Clare" all the way through in sequence. The singer is Art Garfunkel and I recommend it . There isn’t, in my opinion, a bad song on it.
  • OK, I am off to get my Kindle and then walk on the treadmill. I hope everyone stays warm.

You’re lucky that it’s not windy. . .it’s 18 degrees here in Rhode Island, but the wind chill is 4 degrees. When the wind picks up, it gets pretty brutal.

Patricia, why are returning the House you already watched? I thought you bought the DVD? I do think it is interesting about Doris Egan!

That reminds me, I need to buy bird seed for the outside birds. A feeder that big wouldn’t last five minutes. My birds are like pigs at the trough. They’d empty it every day, even if I filled it with the whole 50-pound bag! LOL!!

I’m not usually all that happy to be living in Las Vegas, but in this case … my friend Dianne lives in Fargo, North Dakota, where the HIGH temperature today will be minus 7!

For awhile, we were watching House regularly, but Joe’s not put it on for weeks! I keep meaning to ask him why he doesn’t watch it anymore. Perhaps your mention of it will remind me to remind him???? (I always let him commandeer the remote, since I am apt to fall asleep midway through something anyway!!) hugs, Nicky

ryn-Oh, I see. I wondered because I saw that you ordered another season. I’m easily confused it seems. I have all four seasons, but don’t watch them. But, I will!

I haven’t heard Art Garfunkel in years! I’ll have to download that! The wind is the worst. It was getting colder yesterday and the wind was very fierce. Even if the temp is not so bad, the wind will make it feel that way. Take care and I hope your back feels better soon! (((Hugs)))

ryn: i don’t blame you for staying inside on a day that cold. i know we’re cold here but nothing compared to the upper midwest and their cold temps. their cold is brutal! take care,

ryn: Thanks for the link to that diary. She has an impressive collection of vinage ponies that I am *so* envious of. 🙂

I can put up with cold (barely) if there isn’t much wind — but once it starts up, it’s miserable. Huh — I didn’t know that Doris Egan was writing for House — I loved reading the Ivory trilogy when it was published.

I want home delivery!

Tonight is supposed to be the coldest for us. I don’t know how I survived all those years in Western New York. It was 20 degrees this AM. A good friend who is into massage has been drumming into my head to walk squeezing my butt cheeks, and to keep my back straight like somebody is pressing back on your chin…..
