Wednesday
This morning I went downstairs to put out my last NetFlix DVD for mail collection and there, on the doorstep with an inch of snow on the top {which showed it had been out there all night} was my new breadmaker! So, I am now making my favorite recipe white bread in it. The recipe is in the book which came with the machine and has the same ingredients as I have always used but a little more water and flour and a little less sugar and salt and oil. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. This machine makes 1lb., 1.5 lb., and 2 lb. loaves and the default is 2 lb. This means I have to remember to punch in the loaf size because the default on the old breadmaker is 1.5lb. This new machine is also a lot quieter than the old one.
Robin called me this morning and said she wasn’t well and for me not to come to tutor her. I told her to call me when she felt better and we could set up another time for her this week. She told me she didn’t have anything contagious but she was cramping badly. It is either her period or she has food poisoning. I didn’t ask because I didn’t want details but I am glad she said it wasn’t contagious. I don’t need to have this respiratory stuff that has been going around and I definitely don’t need to bring it back home to Fred.
Fred has been doing very well lately. He got a phone call from his primary doctor who told him not to worry unnecessarily about the red cell blood count being down a bit. He is due to see her next week anyway, and will have a blood draw three days before he goes, as he usually does, and she said if it is still down, she will prescribe something. He has been walking on the treadmill and around the house very regularly and feels much better. This morning I was out walking when I saw Nikki, the nurse who used to visit him from the Visiting Nurse Association and she was delighted to hear Fred was doing so well.
Thirteen days before I go Southwards!
Until later…

It is hot here today. In the upper 70s I love the smell of baking bread =)

When my grandmother used to come and visit us, she would use my mom’s breakmaker. I’d come home to the house smelling of fresh bread. Heavenly. One afternoon I ate nearly 3/4s of the loaf she had made. But then my mom dropped the breadmaker a few years ago and hasn’t replaced it yet. I miss that smell. ~rory

Glad you got the breadmaker ok after it sitting on the step all night. I can just imagine the good smell of bread coming from it now. Mine has been idle today when it shouldn’t have been.

well good news on both fronts. RYN: Yes, these are the state required tests and yes someone is in really big trouble unless the cover it really well. But it isn’t my head on the block. Snookums and Punk told me today that things went better but were still NOT DONE properly. Big Ooops on Shirley

I bet you can’t wait to go South! I hope that you enjoy your visit with your son’s. I was going to write with your boys, but thought that sounded disrespectful to them. Even though Peec is going to be twenty I think I will always think of him as one of my two boys (Cedric too.). I adore both of them, as I know you do yours. Have a great day!

As silly as it sounds, I truely am excited to see what the variation from bread machine to bread machine is! ryn: gross! lol, I’ve gotten both cat and dog stories so far! *gag* I can’t wait to see what the place looks like when they move out. We have a bunch of family up there who say the place actually looks decent, but that’s hard to believe from my end. *crosses fingers* Here’s hoping!

There is nothing quite like the smell of bread baking. Your entries often remind me of it.

Glad you got your new breadmaker. I’ve always thought about getting on especially since we love bread around here. I bet you are counting the days until you get to see your kids.

I always thought I’d enjoy being in Vermont until I started reading about your snow! I’ll try to send you some warm sunshine. It’s a good thing that breadmaker didn’t get swiped, sitting out all night.

Hoooo-raaaaay for Fred! I’m glad he’s doing so well these days! Glad, too, that it’s coming up time for your vacation quickly. Getting away from the snow will help! hugs, Weesprite

ryn: That was the nicest note to come home to! Thank you so much!

ryn: yep, it is green and redish brown near the stems, and when you smell it, mmmmm, it smells just like chocolate mint, just snip some and throw it in your tea! *huggs*

Does this make you a reverse snowbird if you travel down south just before spring?

Thanks for your notes, Dear 🙂 Glad to hear Fred is up and about.

I found and read the story of you and Fred meeting. Thank you for pointing me to it! I love to hear how people met, and I honestly believe the Internet has become a great venue to bring people together. I’m glad your children were okay about you living with him. My oldest son is still uncomfortable with me being remarried, let alone “living in sin!” (He did, but I didn’t!) Double standards, eh?

glad to hear that new breadmaker finally got there. The last loaf I made in mine turned out to be about 5 inches tall, I think I’ll try a different recipe next time! LOL 🙂

Less salt and oil is probably good. Let us know if you like it this way. Good for Fred!
