Wednesday
The phone woke me at 9 am but I was almost awake anyway. I let the machine pick up because I just couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed. It turned out to be the physical therapist who talked to Fred when she called back later. He decided that he could do the rest of it himself and told her to sign him off the books. He asked me to remind him to do the exercises morning and afternoon. I said fine as long as I was not made responsible for him doing them. I can take the responsibility for no one’s exercises but my own these days. He agreed. I think he was a little taken aback yesterday to find that he wasn’t as strong as he thought he was. Anyway, he was supposed to go to his kidney doctor today and he called it off because of the weather.
I started round to Robin’s for the second tutoring session this week and it was raining. I got halfway down the road when I realized I was hungry and my knees were shaky. So, I turned around, went back home, grabbed half a slice of bread and an apple and started off again. In the few minutes I had been upstairs, the rain had changed to sleet. About fifteen minutes into the tutoring session, I looked out of Robin’s window and it was snowing heavily. After the tutoring, I walked up to the drug store to pick up Fred’s medications and it was an interesting walk all the way with both eyes fixed firmly on the ground in front of my feet. The snow was wet and slushy and since the ground was not frozen because we have had a couple of days of spring-might-be-coming days, there was still a lot of water running. However, in typical Vermont weather, it is supposed to go to well below freezing tonight which means the wet areas will become sheets of ice by tomorrow. I have to go up to the school at noon for lunch and reading so we shall see. Last week, schools were closed on Thursday because of bad weather.
I managed to get in a 30 minute walk before the bad weather today. I will not be doing another one. I may get on the treadmill.
Yesterday I made a loaf of brown bread from OD diarist’s RosieLyn’s recipe and it was a big success with Fred. We are getting to the end of it and I asked him did he want the next loaf {to be made tomorrow probably} to be brown bread or the usual white bread. He chose the new brown bread.
Until later…

Your weather seems a lot like ours although we are having one of those clear blue sky days…I’ll have to get out for a walk myself.

Glad you liked the bread. It is a hit here too. We like it with baked beans. It is also nice to slice and butter and take with some cut up cheese if you have to take a plate of something out with you to go to some function.

Do you think the older one gets the more busy one is. You seem to be a very busy person. Your page reminds me of knitting and chrochet work very nice too. Take a look at my diary if you can spare the time. Take care, nice entries in your diary.

RYN: about the yawning cat… not sure what the deal is there. I have it on my earthlink website, so it should show. I have to ask and see if others can see it! Thanks for letting me know!

You really do have some drastic weather up there. You’re a tough Cookie! 😉

ryn: Thanks for your support of me. It’s hard to “bare your soul” sometimes, but at least here at OD everyone is supportive and non-judgemental. I hope Fred will continue his exercises. My ex used to blame if he didn’t do something properly! Jeesh, am I glad to be out of that one. Take care, and remember to eat before you go on walks! 🙂

Glad to hear that you made it back safely today. The weather here was miserable today, rain, soggy ground, cold, and snow, not fun at all. I am so ready for spring!
