Various Thoughts

I am just stuffed to the brim with oatmeal! It was good enough for me to eat a cup-and-a-half but not as good as it usually is since there were no sunflower seeds left when he made it. When Fred said this, I pointed out that sunflower seeds had been on the list for a week. He just didn’t take the list from the refrigerator with him the last time he went shopping.

I just got an IM message from my sister in England. Isn’t it astounding that she and I who are on two different continents can communicate almost face to face?

I have just remembered I have a nice big extra check coming into my account on December 18th. When I retired from teaching seven years ago, I chose the “thirteenth check” option for Cost of Living {CoL} increases. This means I do not get CoL during the year but they are added together in the form of an extra check on December 18th and this year it is going to be a fairly substantial amount. I usually try to spend this check on something extra that I normally wouldn’t buy and usually I have a good time researching what to spend that extra money on. This year, I really didn’t remember at all that I was going to get it until today.

On Wednesday, if all goes well, {and this refers to the weather} I am going to have lunch and spend some time with Dagnabbit of OD. I am really looking forward to this. We have met before but it was a brief meeting because I had to run off so this will be much better.

I was just half-listening to Fred talking to his friend Bill on the phone and Bill is, apparently, coming over here at some time tomorrow? Hmmm. Well, I won’t have to rush around cleaning up for Bill. He lives in the biggest mess you have ever seen. I honestly could not believe my eyes when Fred took me over to Bill’s house. Things — files, books, guns, computers {working and nonworking}, trophies, coin collections– are piled in precariously balanced heaps which are covered in dust.  No matter how messy this apartment is, it beats that! But he is a really good friend and Fred really likes him. When Fred left his marriage–“began my new life” as he always refers to it– he and Bill were working together at IBM and Bill offered him a place to stay for as long as he wanted.  Bill is one of the people I will be calling after the surgery is over…

I wonder why all the aliens on StarGate SG1 not only speak English but American English?

Until later…

Stargate story – at dinner tonight Hero sat at the kitchen table just so. He could listen to Stargate on the TV in the living room. Grr. I like to have dinner as “conversation” time, but seeing as we talk constantly, and it was a good storyline, I could let this one go.
