Various Things with Smilies*
- Last day of the month. I am getting closer and closer to moving which, if all goes as I have sorta-planned , will be in February.
- I am getting rid of things, mostly on Freecycle but I seem to be hardly making a dent. Well, I take that back in regard to clothes. I have definitely made a good dent there.
- We have snow again. Not too much–about an inch, but it is definitely cold. Right now it is 16 degrees F and forecast to go to a toasty 21 degrees.
- I am still deciding if I am going to the bereavement group again. The Wednesday night after the meeting, I hardly slept at all and last night wasn’t great either. I did fall asleep around 11 PM but my eyes opened and my brain started obsessing too. I went back to sleep at about 5 AM and woke up at 9 AM.
- I just got a call from my doctor’s office saying that my two blood pressure meds had been renewed but since they hadn’t seen me for a long time, they wanted me to make an appointment. So I did.
- This morning—no, since it is 12:15–this afternoon, I need to go out and make sure my car will start. I can run it while I am cleaning the snow off it.
- Diane came by yesterday and we went to lunch at the diner. She is having a bad time with her medication which is not doing what she had hoped it would.
- Another thing I need to do today is to call my provider. For a while the DSL connection was so slow that it was actually worse than dial-up. It was like this for about 5 days and just as I was getting ready to call them, the DSL went right back to being fast again! What I actually need to call about is that they are still taking the payments from the bank account when I specifically asked for paper bills. And I am wondering if the account is in Fred’s name still or mine, which is also what I asked for…
- I finally got Thunderbird on the PC to work properly. This means I can be gone over Christmas and the New Year and still be able to get my email. When I went to North Carolina a few months ago, my younger son very kindly let me borrow a laptop but he couldn’t set up the email because I didn’t know my password! This time I am going to my older son’s house for Christmas and he doesn’t have a spare computer so I am bringing my PC laptop.
Fear not for the future, weep not for the past.
Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822) English Poet
Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.
– Oscar Wilde
Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone. ~Fred Rogers (Mr. Roger
I like that Oscar Wilde quotation. It’s funny, but it makes you think about how much of our time is spent trying to be the kind of person that other people will like, and what a waste it is. Hope your car starts!

Is your son (did you decide which one you are going to live near yet?) going to come up and help you with the moving? I sympathize about all the having-to-get-rid-of and packing of stuff, cuz moving is HARD WORK! I know I need to get bloodwork done before my next renewal of blood pressure meds….I’m sure I will put it off ’til the last few weeks, even though I shouldn’t! hugs, Nicky

Your emoticons at the end of each bullet made me smile and grin as I made my way through your entry 🙂 It seems like time is speeding along to hurry your move. Before we know it, you’ll be moved 🙂

I had extra keys cut for my car doors so that I can let it idle locked. Now I run out in the morning, start the beast, turn the heat oh full, turn the rear defroster on, then lock it and go back in to get ready. By the time I am all bundled up I can get into a nice warm car with the radio blaring, after just a quick brush of the side windows and mirrors. I keep a key at work, a key hidden, etc.
