Tuesday
Fred was awake at 5:30 this morning and asking if I was awake. Well, of course I was! He woke me up asking that!
I got up and made coffee and toasted some home-made bread and then after he has eaten, he went back to bed! Sheesh! I stayed up, washed dishes and cleaned the kitchen including the floor. Then I sat at the computer and played Bookworm and other games until Fred woke up. Then, I did something I was not looking forward to. I drove out into the world in the icy slush and snow and I bought groceries. I possibly may have mentioned I HATE buying groceries? But I got everything on the list although had to do a swift walk to the back of the store when I realized I hadn’t got the light cream Fred uses in his coffee.
I had gone out earlier while he was napping to see if my car would start and to shovel a path through the snow so I could walk from the road to our gate–a very short distance. I had this clever plan in my mind about unloading the groceries from the back of my car, stacking them in the area I had shovelled and taking them upstairs two bags at a time. All this was thwarted when I couldn’t get the back of my car open since the lock was frozen! I almost couldn’t get the passenger-side door open either but I went inside the car, banged on the door from there a few times and then tugged very hard from outside. Anyway, to make a long story a little shorter, I finally did succeed in getting all the bags home and carried upstairs except the two bags of birdseed which I stashed in the kayak up on its rack at the side of the stairs! {We are nothing if not inventive in our use of storage space!}
Then I ate lunch, told Fred I was going for a 30 minute walk and set out to slog through the slush. About two-thirds of the way, I decided this was enough, cut it short and headed back. I walked for 30 minutes but it will give you an indication of the stress of walking in slush when I tell you I did about two-thirds of my usual distance during the same time. When I got home, Fred said his daughter had called and they were coming over tonight and bringing food. He didn’t think to ask what so that will be a surprise!. I decided to go for a brief nap, set my alarm clock for an hour and was woken after 15 minutes by the phone ringing. it was the visiting nurse checking on Fred and reminding us she would be in tomorrow to get yet more blood. Apparently his kidneys are not doing well…
So, now we are sitting here waiting for company. I hope they don’t stay long. If they are still here at 10 pm, I am going to excuse myself and go to bed.
SUCH an exciting life! LOL
Until later…
*huggs* I hate grocerying too, I had to do it yesterday. That is LS’s forte not mine. I hope your company does not stay too long.

I hate grocery shopping, and if I could, I’d send J out to do it, but god only knows what he would show up with… I’d say that you have enough excitement in your life right now.

I so wish we had more snow… not to walk and fall in of course, but I just love snow. Maybe this coming weekend… who knows 🙂 And it is pretty exhausting walking in slush… more than anything else I think because you have to keep everything going, not just your leg muscles.

we just got back from the grocery. Carrying bags in the snow is my nightmare

We have a market here that offers on line shopping for the whopping fee of $5.00! You place your order then give them a time when you want it ready, you pick it up and bring it home! Such a blessing!

Right about now I’d gladly switch for an hour or two with you and you can babysit the piglets. I’m on dumb question 6,483.

I have a love/hate feeling about grocery shopping myself. But everything is so much more a drag in bad, sloppy weather. I’m blessed with a warmish day today, and am still stalling about going grocery shopping! I hope the food was good and the guests didn’t stay long, too. hugs, Weesprite
