Today’s Stuff

Fred found a really nice free program on line that makes flash cards in Italian so I downloaded it. So, of course, since it boasts "native speakers", I had to connect my computer speakers up. As I may have mentioned once or twice  , I am not terribly thrilled about crawling around on the floor but I did it. I was pretty sure I had everything plugged in correctly  but no sound was coming from the speakers and the opera cd I had in the computer. Eventually, I did occur to me that the speakers do need to be plugged into a power source! So, now I have sound which is somewhat surprising when my mail program chimes at me! This program is pretty nice and has some nice lists in it but until one buys the full program, there is no way to put in one’s own lists. And I think $40 is probably more than I am prepared to pay… But we shall see.

I have done my translation of "la prof’s" raccontino which is what we had to do this week. On line, I have found a useful source that will translate single words for me. However, since my desk was near the window and my computer is not, I found myself scooting my wheeled chair across the floor a lot. So now, I have pulled the desk over in a single line with the computer desk and that works a lot better. I actually think I will eventually move the desk into a L shape with the computer desk but that will involve moving other furniture, too so it must wait. {short pause to sing "Dona Nobis Pachem" in harmony with Beth Neilsen Chapman!} I am not sure if we have to do the grammar which la prof told not to do over the Thanksgiving holiday, but I am going to do it because it is using the verb forms we studied yesterday in class, those forms that always take "essere" or "avere" with them–two additional verb forms to think through instead of one! Oh, joy! {I really enjoy this stuff despite the complaints, y’know!}

Since the Dish Network tech didn’t turn up {see previous entry} I decided to make a loaf of bread. Well, actually, I decided to program the machine to make a loaf of bread since all I do is throw the ingredients in. I may throw the ingredients in for a loaf of raisin bread next. Last time I made raisin bread, the little hopper that is supposed to open and drop in the raisins didn’t do its job. I think it was gummed up with raisin deitrius so I gave the little thing a good cleaning. I have every hope that it will work now, but before I load in the ingredients for this loaf of raisin bread, I need to check the recipe and see how long into the procedure it is before the raisins are supposed to drop so I can set a timer and check. if they go in too soon, they get mashed up and if they go in too late, they are concentrated all in one place.
