Today I Got a Lot Done

Yesterday Fred said he was cold the past couple of nights and we needed to put on another blanket so, for last night, I just dumped a blanket or two on top of the quilt. This morning I remade the bed properly with an extra blanket tucked in properly and put a smaller folded blanket at the foot. Next, I picked up and stacked up a pile of empty boxes which have been occupying the place where the Christmas tree goes. I swept and mopped that part of the floor.

Somewhere in there, I also loaded the bread machine with ingredients and let it make a loaf. I recently bought from the King Arthur flour site a bag of mixed seeds and oats and have been putting a half cup into the usual recipe. It makes a lovely loaf which goes very quickly.

After the mopped floor had dried, I went into the storage area and brought in the tree. I put it together. {It is a pre-lighted one and comes in three pieces.} I plugged the pieces together and turned the lights on. All day I have been fluffing out the branches and have put three out of the four boxes of silver and red balls –that would be thirty six ornaments –on the tree. I am glad I splurged a bit for unbreakable ornaments since I dropped about six of them. If they had been glass, I would be sweeping glass up. There are a dozen ornaments left and I am leaving them for Fred. He can sit in a chair and hang them on the bottom branches. Tomorrow I will put the boxes away again until after Christmas. Tomorrow I will also put out the tree skirt and tidy away some of those boxes…

Fred went out to get groceries and I moved my car out onto the street. We have to park one behind the other in the off-street parking and after tomorrow, all cars have to be off the street at night or risk a $35 a night fine. This is so the snow plows can come through. When he got back, he brought three bags in and I went out and got the other three. Then, immediately, before I could forget it, I brought my car off the street even though there would be no problem with it being there tonight. I put mine behind Fred’s because I know I have a massage on Sunday and I need to get out. I can move Fred’s car and have done this before but his Buick is so much wider than my little Kia that I either get too close to the curb or not close enough! After that, I put all the groceries away.

Now I am exhausted but I am pleased that I got so much done because it shows me that, slowly, I AM moving back to normal.

Tomorrow:

  • white laundry
  • colors
  • finish the Christmas stuff
  • find out what the book is for the book club meeting on Tuesday and read it! It is one by Tracey Kidder, I know.

Don’t wait for your "ship to come in" and feel angry and cheated when

it doesn’t. Get going with something small.

You did get a lot accomplished today! Do you feel your strength and energy returning now? I still am waiting for our snowflakes here, but they haven’t arrived yet.

Wow you have accomplished alot. How is your hip feeling? It’s been a while since I have read about it bothering you so I assume it feels pretty good. At least you are out walking too.

Boy, you were busy!!!! Pic’s of the tree? I won’t have one this year, cuz I figure it will just have birds sitting in it and knocking all the stuff off of it… Love to you! ~M

*huggs* you always keep so busy and I always feel so lazy!

So glad to hear your energy is coming back. Slow and steady is a good thing. =) The tree sound lovely.

Yes you are! I’m learning to try and do just a bit more everyday instead of tackling everything at once. And I’ve noticed that my pedometer numbers are slowly rising every week, which really adds to my confidence! I can’t believe it’s almost December…

It kind of makes me smile that you know exactly how many ornaments are on your tree! It’s so very you. In a good way.
