Today

This morning I went to see Fred and went with him down to the physical therapy room where he stood up from his wheelchair and held on to a bar ALL BY HIMSELF. With no help. Brigit, the PT,  was standing behind him ready to help, but her hand never touched him. This was the first time he had been able to do this. First, he started with two people helping him stand up and then one person, and then today,  for the first time, he did it all by himself. He has been there almost two months and when he came into this place, his legs would not support his weight. It has been interesting to watch his progress. Like learning pretty well anything, there are times when he doggedly does the work and the improvement is miniscule. And then, suddenly, it all comes together and he can stand up…

Then, in the afternoon, I went to cardiology and had an echocardiagram…hmmm, I am not sure that is the right word. Anyway, I got to watch my heart beating and hear the noise the machine makes as the blood swooshes around! Very interesting. This, incidentally, is part of the tests to find out why I am so short of breath…

And tomorrow I go with him to — well, I am not actually sure where we are going, but he needs to give a sample of blood for what reason I am not sure! Sorry to be so vague. I was told but the last few days I have been pretty well out of my rational mind and staying home and crying a lot. I am not totally through this whatever-it-was but I am coming out of it. This means I have only cried once today.

Today on my Kindle Fire I rewatched "Soylent Green" with an amazingly young Charlton Heston! "Soylent Green is made from people!"  {You knew I was going to say that if you are a Soylent Green Fan. }

I am off to bed.

🙂

Good news for Fred! Can you believe that it was only within the last few years that I watched Soylent Green? I’d never even heard of the movie, but watched it on the Indy channel.

I’m glad you are feeling a bit better now. :o) !! hugs, Nicky

I had a feeling you were struggling – this has been a very difficult time, and you have had to cope with 2 people’s medical problems .. no wonder it seemed overwhelming! I hope you feel better soon.

glad you are feeling some better. good for fred! he’s improving. hopefully, he’ll be able to go home soon. i don’t think i’ve ever watched the whole movie, just bits and peices. take care,

Wasn’t Ernest Borgnine in Soylent Green also? I barely remember the movie. Maybe I ought to put it in my queue. I’m glad to hear of Fred’s progress and that you are feeling a bit better too.
