Tidying Up

It is a rainy cold day here. I can attest to this since I just got back from a walk in the rain and the cold! I found myself thinking I wouldn’t be out at all if it wasn’t for the iPod and the music thereon and, as it was, I cut the walk from the more usual 30 minutes to 20 minutes. Speaking of iPods, my younger son has bought a Shuffle and thus become a member of the {i}Pod people!

I got up at 8 am and it is now 11:30. Since I got up I have done the following:

  • Put the ingredients for a loaf of white bread in the machine and it is almost done.
  • Mopped the kitchen floor
  • Washed the dishes from last night
  • Vacuumed the carpets
  • Dusted everything in sight
  • Gone for a 20 minute walk {20 minutes is not wonderful but better than nothing}

Still to do:

  • Make another loaf–the people coming like freshly-made bread
  • Tidy the piles of stuff on top surfaces in the living room. {Tidy piles of stuff are GOOD piles of stuff)}

I really like the feeling  and the looks of a vacuumed, dusted  and ordered house and I wonder why I have to wait for company to arrive before I do the cleaning up. It is not as if it is a time-consuming job {although it is one of those that has to be done over and over} and perhaps that is why I shun it until it is necessary.

I have a question. Who DOESN’T like fresh bread!

April 23, 2005

I think you wait until company comes to tidy up because you have so many other interesting things to do!

It’s rainy and miserable here too. There’s a rugby game today, and I would’ve gone if it weren’t for the weather. I agree with the first noter. I can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t LOVE fresh bread. I certainly do. Your entries make me hungry!!

cold and rainy here today, too. we really need the rain but why on a weekend? there are things i could do outside if it were decent out there. take care,

Yes, it’s the ‘over and over and over and over…’ about dusting and vacuuming that gets to me, too. ::sigh:: Well, you inspire me to do some housework. Soon.

Ummm fresh bread, as delicious as when it is baking as it is eating.

*huggs* you are always so busy. Today I am very lazy, but think I need that. : )

I try to keep our house clean, but with it being soooo big (I’m not complaning really) it does take a lot of time cleaning up.

April 23, 2005

I agree with you wholeheartedly about having a neat, orderly home. There is just something so satisfying about it.

I like a vacuumed and dusted house too, I wish I could get Hazel to do that for me, I even offered to pay her! LOL 🙂

April 23, 2005

I wish I could get somebody to do all that FOR me! lol.

April 24, 2005

I think I need to stop reading your entries, they always make me crave for fresh homemade bread…heheh

Here’s hoping you get nice sunny days again soon. We’ve had rain and cold here, too. I feel the same as you regarding housecleaning but this is the first time in my life I’ve tried to become more conscientious about it. It is nice to have the house clean, though actually doing the cleaning isn’t that much fun! Here’s wishing you a good day! hugs, Weesprite

is that a self portrait ???

Patricia, unfortunately I don’t have your computer/camera savvy so I don’t have the ability to post pictures of the robins’ nest in progress. I may figure something out, but no promises.

It’s the notion that company is coming, that motivates me to spiffy up the place too. Housework is tedious and unrewarding (except for the moment after it’s done and you survey the results of your efforts). So, sometimes I have to do it, just for myself, so I can dwell in a clean and tidy home.

I agree with you about the cleaning the house. And one day, I really want another breadmaker. They are very cool. And they make excellent bread. There is NOTHING like freshly-baked bread.

When company comes, it’s always a good time to clean. Sometimes I find myself “waiting” to clean if I know we’re getting company in a few days….or the following weekend…or….sometimes I avoid it altogther! But it does feel good to have the house tidied and clean.

I wonder why I have to wait for company to arrive before I do the cleaning up…… I have the answer to that from years of experience. It is because you clean much faster when company is on the way. Heaven forbid they should see us as we really are. haha But alas there are those surprise visits which come when we are at our very worst..then we resolve to be tidy on a regular basis..ha-snort.
