Thoughts as They Occur

Before I go to class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I like to eat a good breakfast and I very often have a two-egg omelet, a piece of toast, a cup of coffee and a piece of fruit. Until this week I was making a couple of trips from the kitchen to the living room with all the stuff so I could watch television in the 30 minutes I give myself. Then, I had an Idea. Now, I put all the food and the cup of coffee on the new wooden tray with handles I bought and voila– one trip.   It is the small things that count, right?I bought the tray in what used to be the Pier One store in Burlington.  For some reason, they severed ties with the Pier One name and now they are something else, but the merchandise is the same. All their trays were on a top shelf and so a man climbed a ladder many times to bring the trays down because I wasn’t going to buy a tray I hadn’t held. It needed to be light and big enough for everything I wanted to put on it. The one I got is light-toned wood with handles and very light in weight and is ideal. {I used it on Tuesday morning.}

Amanda came to get the boxes and she was alone. So, although I had told myself I wouldn’t, I did  help her carry them out to her car although she did the stacking. After she left, I emptied a couple of boxes of my winter clothes and offered them on Freecycle. I got an immediate answer where the woman said she would pick them up this evening! I hope she does. If not, I kept the emails of the others and will get in touch with them. {I just went out and doubled-bagged the stuff which is on the back porch since it looks like rain.}

Today I retyped my old story with corrections and worked a bit on the new one. These are, you understand, raccontinos  which means little stories! However, mostly I worked on learning the days of the week, the months of the year and the four seasons. Fred called the English ones out to me and I wrote them in italian and told him how I spelled them. {It amuses me that although I am a good speller in English, I am at this point NOT a good speller in Italian.} There were a couple I found difficult to remember for some reason, but those are the ones I will work on after I have finished writing this. I don’t know if she is going to give us English to Italian or Italian to English on the test tomorrow but what I do know is that after getting a B last test because I didn’t read the directions, I will read carefully this time.

Until later….

Oh yes the little things are so important. E.g. I finally bought a black bra and what a pleasure NOT to get dye transfer onto my bras when I’m wearing black! A small thing but a nice thing.

I think we need one of those trays too. We rarely eat at the table so maybe we actually need two ( one for each. L ) I’ll have to check our Pier One. have a great Thursday! M

I keep a big tray for that same reason.

RYN — thanks! I’m sure I’ll get addicted soon enough!

I’m with you on the little things that make life bearable — and it’s those little things that tend to stick with me when I remember things. So yes, you are absolutely right on that one. And I think it’s neat that you’re learning Italian.

Good idea, buying the tray! And I like the way Fred helps you study. I always liked having someone quiz me on things, too. hugs, Weesprite
