This & That

  • Yesterday I bought a cushion for one of the outside chairs, well, actually, the Adirondack-type chair *I *sit in. It is odd that sitting here at the computer, I have a cushion stuffed against my back to keep it straight and yet when I sit outside, those straight-backed chairs actually hurt my back and I am uncomfortable.
  • Playing on the IPod: The Hallelujah Chorus sung by the Roach sisters. I love this version. First, I like the way you can hear one of them saying softly "What’s my note?" and they all sing their beginning note softly. This is followed by a pause and then they blast out with "Hallelujah!" Another thing I like about this version is how they sing four parts with only three singers!
  • Yesterday I went out to get not only the cushion but some purple flowers for the half-barrel by the steps. They have to be purple because in that barrel are chives which have lovely purple flowers! When Fred and I moved into this apartment, Melanie who, with her husband Mike, lived here, had all sorts of of herbs planted in this half-barrel. The only survivor were the chives and I am NOT going to uproot anything that has survived a Vermont winter! I will probably plant the purple and  pink impatiens today.
  • I also bought a tomato plant and a tomato cage. Last year I had a tomato plant in a biggish container but when I went to get a cage, everywhere I went was sold out so I had a stick which worked fairly well. But a cage is easier! I did try to grow one of those upside down tomatoes with very small success last year so I may not do it this year.
  • Today I am wearing socks and sandals! I know, I know, a definite fashion no-no, but I am miserable when my feet are cold… and I don’t see being miserable when there is something I can do about it.
  • I am amused when there is a software update for my Mac computer. A cute little icon appears in the dock and jumps up and down until I click on it! This one told me that I could go on with what I was doing because it didn’t need to restart my computer.

"You are not happy because you are well. You are well because you are

happy. You are not depressed because trouble has come to you, but

trouble has come to you because you are depressed. You can change

your thoughts and feelings, and then the outer things will come to

correspond, and indeed there is no other way of working."

I wear socks with sandals, too. Just so you know you aren’t alone. Hate cold feeties! Did the irises survive, or did I already as you that?

I’ve always wondered if those upside down tomato plants grew and actually had tomatos.

People in Seattle get stereotyped for wearing socks with sandals (and they get made fun of too). I have to admit, I always thought the point of wearing sandals was to air your feet and keep them cool in warm waether, so if you’re feet are cold enough to need socks, why not wear different shoes? But that’s just me. Personally, I don’t mind the look!

I would’ve said socks with sandals was a no-no, years ago….but now I see so many people wearing them that way! Just like I see lots of women wearing sneakers or hiking boots with a skirt! hugs, Nicky

Nope, sorry. Love you to bits but the sandals with socks just won’t cut it. Chives in a barrel do though….I so miss my garden…. Loves to you! ~M

I’m all for socks with sandals if that’s what it takes to be comfortable. I’d go for that combo all year if I could. Bare toes are even better, though.

I’d be worried if someone was more focused on my feet than my face…

thank you about the aside re: upside down tomatoes. I was thinking of getting that planter for California. Now, I’ll skip it.

RYN: Hahah, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who’s mind works that way. Thanks for the note!

Quickly leaving a note for you and Fred to say hello and say that I miss being here and miss you two.

I’m all for dressing for comfort instead of being fashionable, so you go girl! LOL My son bought himself a Mac notebook and he really loves it! I thought of you when he showed it to me.

I agree, cold feet are miserablemaking. I love crocs because I can wear big woolly socks in them. ryn: yes, I see the potential for him becoming Cam or Ron. But then I once became MollyMoJo and I really never saw the link….
