This & That

Several people asked how the Harry Potter books got into the Amazon shop if Rowling didn’t approve them. Well, I can’t give you details but there is a thriving collection of independent {"indie"} writers putting their books on Amazon in Kindle form. I don’t know the details but I would think that the person who did this went through the steps the indie writers have to do. I bet Amazon will vet that area better now!

Yesterday I gave the kitchen a really good cleaning. A problem we have is crumbs all over the counter tops. We both like bread with crisp crusts and seedy breads. Most of what we eat is either home made or not pre-sliced which of course, makes crumbs. So, knowing I would be doing the floor last, I moved everything on the kitchen tops and swept all the crumbs onto the floor. It was actually a lot of fun to do that! Then after I had cleaned everything in sight, I swept, dry-mopped and then wet-mopped the floor. The whole procedure went well.

Last night for supper I had something I hadn’t had for, literally, years. Fish sticks and tater tots! They were frozen and baked in the oven but there was no doubt they had been fried before that. Yum, fat! I DID have a big salad with no dressing with it but that didn’t negate all the fat calories. I guess I enjoyed it so much partly because it has been a very long time since I have has this!

Fred has a cold. It is not making him feel ill but he is coughing. Today it seems to be a productive cough. He is not having problems with his breathing and it is not keeping him {or me} awake at night, but we are both paying attention to it because of how quickly a cough turned into bronchitis with me last year. Incidentally, since I do NOT want this cough, the only kisses we are getting from each other are air kisses!

Ok, I was going to do laundry today but I think I will leave it until tomorrow and have a reading-the-Kindle-on-the-bed day!

first note dance? Hope Fred feels better soon!

Mmmmmm, Tater Tots. That sounds delicious today.

Those indie writers are so annoying. On a whim, I ordered a book…it was only 3.99, but his writing style made my eyes bleed. What in the world did he think he was good enough to be “published”?? I’m so disappointed in Amazon…I think it’s trying to best other ebook companies by proclaiming they’re now selling over 225,000 books. BS! >:-<

I am so torn about the whole Kindle thing. On the one hand yes, I want to save trees – but on the other there’s just nothing else like holding a book in your hands!

I absolutely love Fish Stick and Tater Tots. That was always my favorite.

I hope that Fred feels better soon and you don’t catch it!! This is what I got for me: http://www.amazon.com/Mountain-Woods-Multi-Purpose-Crumb-Tray/dp/B00029HBOW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1233684573&sr=8-2 I like it because it’s handy if we’re wanting to eat in the livingroom (often) AND it catches all those pesky crumbs!

heehee….I admit to rather liking fat, also. Ya just can’t beat good ol’ fried fish…..*sighs contentedly just thinking of it*…. hugs, Nicky

Ooh, you have me thinking of fish ‘n’ chips.

Comfort food right now sounds very good. I hope that Fred gets feeling better soon, and that you don’t catch that bug. Stay warm and safe!

Are fish sticks any relation to fish fingers? 🙂

I wish I could get David to eat fish sticks. I like them every once in awhile. But HE says no; doesn’t like the fact that they’re breaded… I could probably pull off the tater tots though. Loves to you ~M

I wonder if there’ll be legal consequences for whoever put those books on Amazon?

MMmmmm..tater tots 🙂

I like those quotes at the bottom of your entry… especially apt for developing healthy new habits! Feel better Fred. (huggles)

Sounds good swiping all the crumbs onto the floor! I expect your fish sticks are our fish fingers, but I don’t knoe what Tater Tots are!

February 4, 2009

I realize tater tots fall into all the tasty food groups – salt, fat, simple carbs… yum… and keep them away from me! I like fish cakes better than fish sticks

On your front page the last entry seems to be over a month ago. I think somebody else noticed it as well so I don’t know what’s going on! RYN. Aha! so now I know that the note was from somebody in America who does not speak proper English, but speaks American English!! I’ve never done the omnibus apostrophe as I always think of them as just buses, but I use the word telephone instead of ‘phone quite a lot!
