This and That

This morning, I went outside around 10 am -ish to sit in the sun on the deck and read. After a while, I had to come in because even though there was lovely sunshine, the temperature was 50  degrees! I have been in Vermont for 10 years and still tend to think that sunshine means heat! Of course, I was in Mississippi for over 30 years and there sunshine does mean heat!

Today Dune by Frank Herbert appeared for the Kindle on Amazon . I have been checking on it for a while and finally there it was with an $7.99 price on it and I immediately downloaded it and have really been enjoying rereading it. On Kindleboards.com there is a "What are you reading? " tread and someone whose name I can’t remember put a link to Andrew Vachss. I downloaded a free sample and was hooked. There are about 10 or so and I have samples for all of them. With a sample, one can read two to three chapters and then there is a link where one can buy the book at Amazon and have zapped straight on one’s Kindle. I am going to take a break to go to read someone else between each Vacchss book because the two I have read so far are very intense…

Our next door neighbor just came over bringing us dessert, rhubarb crumble and vanilla ice cream!

"You are not happy because you are well. You are well because you are

happy. You are not depressed because trouble has come to you, but

trouble has come to you because you are depressed. You can change

your thoughts and feelings, and then the outer things will come to

correspond, and indeed there is no other way of working."

Emmett Fox

"Enjoyment is not a goal; it is a feeling that accompanies important ongoing activity."

My mom used to make rhubarb pie and I never did like it. Don’t know why. I think sunshine WILL mean warm one of these days. It’s finally starting to warm up here.

mmmmm….I’m glad you got some rhubarb dessert; I remember you saying you like it! :o) !! Looks ARE deceptive when it comes to weather….if I look out and see sunshine, I anticipate warmth also, and if I see clouds I anticipate coolness, and it’s not always so in either case! hugs, Nicky

I read Dune many years ago… odd I was never interested enough to read the sequels. Sun in the spring can be misleadng!

I love the Dune series, though I am not normally a rabid fan of science fiction. Robert Heinlein is my favorite science fiction author, and one of my favorites in general.

Mmmmm, Rhubarb! Great stuff! I like mine with strawberries, in a pie! Loves to you! ~M

Have you lost the ‘voice’ on your Kindle? I read they were having to disable because of some copyright stuff. Sounds like things are going wonderfully for you and yours. Keep at it and be well; have fun…dan

I tried reading a Vacchs novel but just could not get into it. I have read all of the Harlan Coben books and they are just wonderful! If you haven’t read any of his novels, Google his name and go to his website for the complete list of books. I think it is better when you read the Coben books in order.

Lovely dessert! 🙂 One of my favourites.

great neighbors! I downloaded Jodi Picoults latest book yesterday and I’m hooked. I love the fact that I can change the size as my eyes need it.

I love Dune!!

What a neat thing to do from your neighbor! I’ve noticed a new sort of Kindle at Amazon lately — is this the one that you have? I am so tempted, the book situation around here is getting sooo out of hand.

Here, it can super sunny and minus thirty celcius. It amazes me still. I don’t understand how there can be all that sun and no warmth at all. I wish that I had more time to read. I need to get back to books.

Rhubarb crumble and ice cream sounds wonderful! What a nice neighbor! I am halfway to saving for the Kindle 2 for myself. I am getting more and more excited each day!
