This and That

It is very chilly here today. The  temperature is 20 degrees  and feels like 20 so, thank goodness there is little wind. I went out for a short walk this morning and will try for another this afternoon. There is snow on the sidewalks but very little ice.
This morning I was reading about yet ANOTHER highly advertised drug which is not doing what it is touted to be doing and that is to lower cholesterol. Every time I read something like this I want to say, "See? Told you so!" I am very anti any drug advertised on television. When I changed doctors last which I do because I am in the program where doctors get to practice on me–under the supervision of the Top Doc-and when they move on, I get a new one. Good heavens, where WAS this convoluted sentence going? Oh, yes, well, every time I get a new resident, I tell him or her that unless the prescribed drug is the only one that will stop me dying, I will NOT take anything advertised on television! This always seems to amuse them. I take three drugs, one for depression/RLS, one to lower blood pressure and one for the early stages of glaucoma–and ALL of them are generic and all of them do a good job.
On the subject of the dishwasher, I ran a load yesterday and had to empty the little bowl this morning. And, as I may have mentioned, I can hear the water going "plink plink" into the metal bowl. I got down on my knees this morning to see exactly where the bowl was. I am pretty sure I can get it from now on without any crawling about on the floor. This is a Good Thing but it doesn’t mean we are going to let this be permanent. After a week or so we are going to ask him when will it be fixed properly.
Yesterday in physical therapy Candace tortured me for a while and then let Alica, the student supervise the last bit. Alica is a Candace in the making! I had to lie on my right side on a machine with a sliding board and push with my left leg. This moved back the pad I was lying on. Then I had to S-L-O-W-L-Y let myself  return to the original position with Alicia chanting. "Control! Control! Control!" This morning, although both butt muscles are sore, the left one is VERY sore!
When I made appointments for PT for next week, I had to change from Tuesday/Thursday to Wednesday/Friday because NEXT Tuesday is when I start back to class!  And when I was putting all this in my calendar I saw that next Tuesday is also the monthly meeting of our book club! We are discussing A Tree Grows in Brooklyn which is a book I LOVE. so, despite having ceramics from 11:30 to 2:30 and Italian from 3:00 to 4:30 I will have to keep up enough energy to go to the library from 7 to 8. I missed the last meeting because of snow and ice..   Now, I am going to check the college website one more time to see if the Italian instructor has put up any books and then let it go until the first class.QUOTATIONS:

*giggles about your convoluted sentence!* :o) !! Half the time I don’t know where my convoluted ENTRIES are going! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

I agree!! Seems as if drugs are too easily released to the public and then — WHOOPS! Man.

I think I’m going to start telling my doctors the same thing. I always feel very much like a guinea pig. I hope he gets your dishwasher fixed soon! (((Hugs)))

I’m with you on the drugs. I don’t like taking them at all, but do if I need them. If they are just for something that won’t kill me (so to speak), I won’t take it. And what’s advertised on TV… I agree, its junk in many ways. I’ve been on meds that were advertised and had so many side effects, I quickly switched. I hope your landlord will get his rear in gear (hey, that rhymes) and getthat leak fixed. You shouldn’t have to empty a bowl! PT… yikes. And awesome that you took both classes! Congrats!

I am sorry you are being tortured. By the way, asking as a fellow Paintshop Prop user, have you used SmartDraw?

I’m pretty much anti-any drug. Unless they are life-saving, and even then, I’ll think twice. But I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. Hooray for stiff glutes! Woo-hoo! That means you’re making those muscles stronger.

that sure was a roundabout sentence up there!!! but, i understood it! i always make sure to tell my doctor to give me a generic drug. the brand names are too expensive even with insurance. you shouldn’t have to live with a leaky dishwasher. will be excited to be with you as you go back to school again. p/t can be so very painful… hope you improve soon and be able to walk without the cane. take care,

You’re going to be one busy lady very soon. I do hope you’ll post pictures of your masterpieces.

Wow~ YOU had a convoluted sentance? I feel better about some of mine! Glad P/T is going well. I know it’s a pain in the butt(literally), but it also means that you’re making progress. I can see that cane sitting in the closet gathering dust as I type! Love to you! ~M

Tuesday will be a seriously busy day!!! Sorry about your left butt cheek getting overtaxed. =( I can’t believe they advertise medication on t.v. Isn’t the doctor supposed to advise us on what medication we might need????

I have researched the value of lowering cholesterol for those over 70 and find that it makes very little difference. And this drug fiasco is a crime, billions of dollars they are stealing. My mother takes nothing and is healthy, like ox. Exercises, eats well and laughs out loud, daily. sounds like a good old fashion presciption for a long life. have fun…dan

I can’t agree with you more about the prescription issue. I get very very twitchy when my PA or psychiatrist tells me that they’re putting me on another med. So far everything is working properly, but I can’t help but get those cold chills whenever I hear about another drugmaker getting sued…

I try to eat natural things like walnuts and almonds to lower cholesterol.
