Things to Do*

  • I have decided that since I live so close to my younger son, I want more than a "Happy Mother’s Day" on the phone or in an e-mail from now on. I am not greedy. All I want is a living plant, not cut flowers! And on my birthday, which is also in May, I would like to be taken out for a meal.  I will tell him these things this evening when he is coming after work to do a few small things for me.
  • I think we must have had rain last night since the sidewalks look patchy with moisture. My computer is telling me that the temperature is 70 degrees and this is at 10 AM.  I have a ceiling fan in the living room BUT the cord to pull it is too high up for me to reach! The fan is turned on and off with a wall switch so I can control that but it is on slow speed. One of the things I am going to ask Jake to do this evening is to raise the speed a notch! I have plans to add something to the cord to make it longer…
  • Slowly, very VERY slowly, I am getting things in order here. There are only four more boxes to open. The piles of "stuff" are disappearing. There is a large plastic tote in the walk-in closet which is too heavy for me to move. It has acrylic paints in there. {And maybe my big red tea caddy which is still missing!} Anyway, getting this to the art corner and getting the only box left in the closet out where I can reach it are on the list of things I am going to be asking Jake to do this evening.

Goals for today:

  • Clear off the coffee table
  • Finish putting all books away. {The book case shelves turned up under a pile of books!}
  • Clear off the last folding table and put it away.
  • Enter the local phone numbers I need into the base phone. Erase the Vermont numbers I need no more. {I am reminded that this still needs doing because the instruction book is right here in front of me!}

70 degrees sounds marvelous, but I know where you are it will probably get hot and muggy in no time!

Did your mobile phone get fixed? The way I’m reading your last “chore”, I’m thinking it did. If so, whoopee! If not, how about a great big sad and grumpy face.

If your son is knowledgeable in electrical stuff he can change out the light switch for the fan and put in a variable speed sliding switch that will let you control speed. Be well;peace….dan

We are in the 70s as well. Yesterday was in the 80s with severe storms. Cannot wait to get home and plant some flowers! I think you deserve more then just a phone call or cut flowers for your bday and Mothers day!! So glad you are getting settled in!! Hugs,M

Very soggy here the last couple of days, which is good as we need the rain! By all means get your sons to take you out on mothers day and your birthday. And I love how you’ve been clearing the boxes away.

Good for you for intending to tell your son what you want. Sometimes I think that’s all my boys need – a gentle nudge!

I learned from Hubby a long time ago that he actually APPRECIATES it when I tell him exactly what I want. Men generally want to please the women in their lives and get frustrated when they have no direction. Telling your son what would please you for your birthday and Mother’s Day will probably be more of a gift to him than you can imagine 🙂

I LOVE that you are going to tell your son what you would like for Mothers’ Day and your birthday! Most sons really haven’t a clue about things like that. My Mom used to tell people what she wanted, and that way she was always pleased with what she got. :o) !! hugs, Nicky

70 is nice and temperate…ideal if you’re doing work around the place.. RYN thanks, that might help somewhere down the track.

I told my kids no matter how much they try to get away from me it will never happen. If they move, I move. If they stop calling me, I will harass them daily with text messages and the such. It must be done….I love them 🙂
