Things Getting Done
I finally got around to calling the car repair shop and asking for directions. I really don’t know why I dread doing things like this so much. Anyway, the directions were clear and I drove over there this morning. My car goes in for repair on Tuesday morning, the 13th at 9 am and they will have it for two days. My insurance covers a replacement car from Enterprise for those two days. One interesting thing is that the insurance guy who came out to assess the damage told me I would need a front right light replacement so I assumed the light didn’t work. However on one of the rainy days we have had, without thinking, I turned on my lights–and both lights work perfectly. So, when I took it to the shop to be looked at, I pointed this out. The only thing that needs doing is buffing out a few minor scrapes on the chrome… Since I was in a get-this-done mood this morning, I also called and made a follow-up appointment with my doctor which will be a week from today at 2:30. Hopefully, I will be over this coughing by then. This is the appointment I promised the walk-in clinic person I would make.
Then, since I was in the area, I went to the local Mac place and discussed the cost of having the newest operating system {called Leopard} put on my Mac Book. I also got an interesting little booklet on Leopard. What I really like about this shop {besides its name which is Small Dog } is the fact that everybody who works there knows what they are talking about. Well, either that or I have been fortunate with three different clerks in the three times I have been. I have a quote for installing Leopard and making sure everything I have on there works with it. It is not a trifling sum of money so I will have to think about it a bit but I am pretty sure that eventually I will get it done. After all, I don’t have to pay for the Kindle since I am getting it for my birthday . {Actually, since I am supposed to be getting it on Wednesday and since my birthday is on the 15th, I am getting it BEFORE my birthday!} Anyway, going back to the Mac, more and more I am considering eventually replacing my Windows 98 desktop with a Mac desktop. But this is only at the "considering it" stage right now. Apart from the cost of the new Mac, I will also have to factor in the cost of getting someone to set it up properly since this computer is the one set up to link to the two other lap tops we have. We are fortunate in having a really good business that does this kind of things withing walking distance of where we live. I got them to hook up my laptop Mac to the network largely because I wasn’t familiar with how Macs did this. And both Fred and I have used this business before and been please with what they did. They are not cheap but they are good. {Of course, if my younger son lived within driving distance, I would ask him to do this, but I think that that North Carolina is too far! }
Ok, I am off to do the final thing on my list for today and that is to ride my bike up and down our street for a while. It isn’t raining and the sun is shining . One I have done this, I can, with a good conscience, watch DVDs for the rest of the afternoon!

Good for you for getting those things done! I think the reason I like doing all my “chores” in the morning is so I can have a good conscience for the rest of the day no matter how little I do! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

After a long, long difficult break, where I’ve hardly looked at OD because of constant computer difficulties, I’ve now got a new Mac, and so hopefully will be reading your diary on a regular basis again. Hooray!

RYN: Thank you for sharing that! Part of the choices Alec is making that I just have to let him make also has to do with quite a sum of money he owes me for times I’ve sent him money to bail him out. Like $2,000 since September. So I can relate to where you are with your son. I too have decided to just write it off as a lesson learned and am also closing The Bank of Mom!

Will the MAC’s read the Kindle books? I would just like for all these things to interact. and then the cars and phones and iPod and iPhones and satellite radios to all link to Dish TV. Just make my life CONNECTED PLEASE!!! Oh and please put the DVR into the MAC and let my computer control my house. Is that too much to ask???have fun…dan You are doing so well!!! I’m sorry 4 this rant 🙁

You’re still running on Windows 98? Holy cow. No wonder you like the mac. After that, I would, too. LOL!
