Things

Last night I bougt Anne McCaffrey’s The Ship Who Sang for my Kindle for less than two dollars. It is an old book and I read it many years ao but since I have only read the eponymous short story, I have several other "ship who…" chapters to read. I also got a copy of Childhood’s End by Arthur C. Clark again for less than two dollars. This book was the first science-fiction book I read {I think in my teens} that made a HUGE impression on me and moved me from the romance or mystery genres into science fiction and/or mysteries. The other thing that is interesting about these books is that they are VERY Large Print books. The print is so large that I have to make it smaller before I can read it.

My hair is at that annoying stage where its length is irritating me because it is not long enough to do anything with. I know what I want when I finally do get it cut. I want a sort of short bob but not as short as I have been wearing it for the last few years. But until it grows a bit more, I have to put up with this neither-fish-nor-fowl style. Well, it isn’t even a style at the moment. It is just brushed back to get the bed-head snarls out!

Today we are supposed to get up to a toasty 30 degree high which is much warmer than our highs of late. I need to get out this morning and get the snow off the cars so that Fred can get groceries. Actually, the snow removal isn’t going to be a huge task. I have been pretty good this year about tackling it almost every day it has snowed. Last year I left it until we needed a car and that was often eight to ten days so when the snow did have to come off, it was a HUGE and tiring job. I have learned my lesson. Snow should be removed daily even if one KNOWS it will snow again tomorrow!

Eh, I understand the hair thing. I’m trying to let mine grow out long enough to donate it to Locks Of Love when I do get it cut. I think you have to be able to cut 10″ off it. It’s a little past my shoulders right now. Thing is, my face is so round that I won’t wear it in a ponytail or pulled back. SO, it just hands there. I’m also trying to let my bangs grow out so that I can do somehting different with them. I don’t know…. may just end up hacking them off again! LOL Yeah, cleaning the snow off the cars daily is a GOOD thing. I remember my parents doing that when we were young. Hugs,M

You were at the top of the front page when I arrived here this morning! I love to read how books have influenced you. I understand how hair can irritate you when you’re trying to change styles. Sometimes it’s hard to leave it alone while you wait. My friend Lorna wants hair long like mine, but she can’t leave it alone! It’ll never get anywhere close to her shoulders.

Your quotes are exactly what I need this morning. Wise words about snow removal too.

I was going to say the same thing Woman in the Moon did! I just started a new diet and the first quote perfectly describes the attitude I’m trying to have toward it.

yes, snow removal from cars should be done soon as the snow stops. i need to make time to read today. i think my first scifi book was alas, babylon. take care,

Very good bargains on the Kindle books.

Childhood’s End! Yeah! You wrote me a note on that book before. “Enjoyment is not a goal; it is a feeling that accompanies important ongoing activity.” So true, so true. I want to steal it and put it on my front page.

I’m growing out my hair right now, too, so I feel your pain! Richard was going to give me a Kindle for Christmas, but then decided to buy me a nice office chair. I don’t have the heart to ever tell him that I would have preferred the other! Oh well. I’m glad that you get enjoyment from yours! I can live vicariously through you. LOL (((Hugs)))

I am really jealous that you are getting snow and very often on top of that. Today the temperature here is 50 degrees right now and should hit 58 alittle later. IT’S JANUARY and the only snow I’ve seen is on the news or reading it here. I haven’t even seen a flurry. Blow some over to Virginia please. Thank you. 🙂

Yuck, snow. We hates it.

Growing out a hairstyle to facilitate a new one is SO annoying. I don’t think it’s as bad now as when I was younger, where it mortified me to leave the house without my hair looking just exactly a certain way. Now I am a little better able to deal with the growing-out process. It sure always seems to take way too long though, doesn’t it?

i loved that book! My hair – I’ve been letting it grow, it’s been falling out. I don’t really know what to do with it!

Love the “brainship” series. Have you read any of Todd McCaffrey’s books? He puts in more adventure but is a little less talented in writing relationships than his mum.

I want some snow! LOL

I remember both of those books as favourites when I was in my teens and very early introductions to science fiction. It was very nearly balmy today on the Hudson. I keep telling myself that the start of spring is supposed to be about two months away.

Still waiting for them to ship my Kindle. Mid February is the plan.

ryn-Well, thank you. It’s very nice of you to say. I too am letting my hair grow. It looks like the dickens right now and I put it in a big barrette. Or I put it in a chignon, or French Twist as we used to say. I just don’t know what I want!
