Things

I woke up this morning with a plan to go into town and get myself some new underwear! My panties are the kind that my Auntie Babs would say {if she was alive} would embarrass me if I was knocked over by a bus! Now, why a bus, I have no idea but she was really into us girls wearing underwear that wouldn’t embarrass us if the bus got us! Mine are clean, but there are little holes here and there that tell me they should be cast aside! The last time I bought new underwear was,,,hmmm {thinks}after I had surgery for the last cancer which was in 2000! Oh dear! No wonder some of them are falling apart!

Anyway, that is what I was planning to do but until I looked out of the window in the back door this morning, I had totally forgotten that Fred had told me the forecast was for more snow overnight, and it is still snowing this morning! So, no driving this morning. It is probably just as well since today is New Year’s Eve and I certainly don’t want to become a statistic — run over by some idiot starting his celebrating too early!

Now, a total change of subject. I am thinking that maybe I WILL go back to school next semester. Originally I wasn’t going to because I was sort of planning a car trip in the spring  to see my two kids—one in Mississippi and the other in North Carolina. But I was on line yesterday looking at the schedule and noticing that the semester finishes in March. After that would be a much better time to take to the road. What I am looking at is either Italian I again {although with a different teacher, la prof has moved to NC } and/or Ceramics. Italian I would keep the skills I have alive and I used to love ceramics in college. If I take either {or both} I will be auditing. Last time I was in class, I realized that taking exams and worrying about grades was stressing me too much.  I think I will have to go in person to change my status to auditing  rather than non-degree which I am now, but that is the way I am going to go this time. The only way I would change my mind is the auditing status messed up my eligability for no tuition fees. {Here in Vermont, Officially Old people pay no tuition fees although we are still required to pay lab and other fees that are not strictly tuition.} I will think about this some more…

Yesterday I went for a massage and paid Beth for 10 more. I actually had three I had paid for and not used up from last year, so yesterday’s massage left me with two. And the ten I bought put me to twelve which is one a month. I have been used to going every two weeks, but that trip to Italy cost MUCH more than I had planned because the dollar was so weak, so I must build up my traveling fund again!

Things to get Done:

  • Write the check for next month’s rent. {This has been done because Fred reminded me. It comes out of the account that is in both our names and to which we both contribute equally but for some reason, I am the one who writes it each month! }
  • Make more yogurt. I finished the last pot this morning. My digestive and eliminative system is VERY happy now I am having a pot a day again!}
  • Cross everything crossable that book 1 of the trilogy I have ordered comes today. The three books were ordered on the same day and book 3 turned up on Friday. It is sitting on my desk sneering at me. The trilogy is The Engineer Trilogy by K. J. Parker.

QUOTATIONS:

"Step by step. I can’t think of any other way of accomplishing anything."

Maybe I should make my own yogurt. My digestive and elimination systems could really use some help. I like that you have so many ideas for things to accomplish in the coming year. And you are one of those people who most likely will accomplish the things that you think about.

Somehow I opened your diary from the main page, how I know not!! hehe. no matter, I enjoyed reading you immensely. And you’re right to stay home, with all the idiots on the road (especially if said idiot is driving a bus!!) *chuckling still* Have a Happy new Year!!

we got between 6 and 8 inches of new snow. sil is out using the snowblower. another storm will come in tomorrow afernoon. both those classes sound very interesting. either one would be good. hope you are able to audit them like you want. a trip down south in the spring sounds very nice. take care,

I’m still in my house robe this morning and most likely will stay that way thru the night. Happy New Year!

I think going back to school is a wonderful idea! And Happy New Year to you and your Fred!

Welcoming in the new year with new underwear…it does make sense. Underwear is one of those things that affect one’s sense of self. The pair I have on today is just plain awful but it was sitting on the top of the pile. It has black felt pen marks all over it from a time there was a pen in the washing machine.

I recently had a similar dicussion with myself about certain unders that had been around since pre-pregnancy. Oops. 🙂 Be well,

If you do a ceramics class you could see the Master in VA, Barton on the way down. She would love it I bet. And then she could give you some tips. You could speak in only Italian to her and she would just nod in return, hahaha. What a way to start a trip. I bet she has some Martha Stewart tips for holy unders too. have fun…dan

Laughing about the underwear issue… Amy and I did laundry together right before we left for CT and she swiped half of mine, so I need to go too!!! Yogurt is a staple in my diet, I eat at least 2 a day, but Winn Dixie has them 10 for $4, so it’s probably cheaper to buy it….. Your massages make me drool…. Love to you!

hmmmm….well my advice is to NOT go out shopping for underwear until the roads are clear, cuz you do not want anyone running over you while you are still wearing the old underwear! Some things just can’t be risked!! My Dad stopped hanging his underwear on the clothesline cuz it got so many holes he did not want the neighbors to see it. (But he never did buy new underwear, so I got it for him forChristmas, sheesh!) Here’s wishing you and Fred a Happy and Cozy New Year’s Eve! hugs, Weesprite

I love the idea that senior citizens can attend college classes at no fee. In FL that would really be a big expense to the state, given the huge portion of the state who are…pardon me…old. The closest we come is our $90 lifetime learning class, which we attend each “Tue. of the school year. Love that. Have a wonderful year in 2008; we are going to try to do that.

There is nothing like a road trip. I’m serious in offering you a place to stay here in Tuscaloosa if it is on your way to Mississippi. Stay off the icy roads and have a safe Happy New Years Eve!!

The old bus threat! LOL! I wonder how many generations have been saying that. You should get a hot sexy red thong and see what Aunt Babs thinks of it. (If you’re like me, you want nothing to do with those things!)

Snowing, oh my, yes you don’t want to get knocked over by some idiot in the snow…well at least until you get new undies…:)

We STILL have had no snow although we are supposed to get snow showers tomorrow. I don’t think it will amount to much since we have 50+ degree weather today. At least you still don’t have to worry about getting hit by a bus today since you have to stay indoors! LOL My mom always said wear clean underwear in case you’re in a car wreck! My thoughts are that if you’re in a car wreck or hitby a bus and all you have to worry about is your ragged underwear, then things must not be too bad! Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year to you and Fred!

December 31, 2007

*huggs* and Happy New Year and I must tell you that my 20 year old son was wondering why I was cracking up reading your diary!

As long as your underwear is clean don’t worry. I’m surprised at the number of noters who have their own Holy Unders tales. LOL

I love making my own yogurt.. I usually do it with homemade soymilk… very cheap and healthy.. (I have a soymilk maker so it’s not a big deal) I think auditing a class is a great idea. I am taking a photoshop class in a couple weeks.. as an audit.

Oh, I hope you go back to school. Learning/knowledge is never a waste! =) Definitely time for new underwear! hee hee Get some that make you feel sexy in hot pink and lace! Then, if you get hit by a bus (heaven forbid!), the emergency medical folks will think you’re one hot mama! ** giggling madly ** I actually know someone who was hit by a bus. Very strange.

Yay for you on going back to school! I think that’s awesome!! Still hoping that we can somehow manage to meet if you make your trip in the spring. Happy New Year! Hugs, M

You know, I’ve seen many people come through the Emergency Room, but cannot ever remember the staff commenting on the quality or state of their undergarments.

January 1, 2008

About a year or more ago (I’m bad with time) I tossed all my old underwear and replaced it with smaller, nicer, stuff. It’s very helpful to catch sight of myself in my bathroom mirror in nice underwear instead of the scruffy old stuff.

January 1, 2008

I am with you no driving today, it is bad here also and even now it is snowing. But now you got me thinking of that chore I hate shopping, especially for underwear a much neglected but needed item. Quess I could stop after work tomorrow. Happy New Year!

I hope that your Fred is alright after his fall. I like homemade yogurt but I have no time to make it. I would love to take some sort of class. You should go for it.

January 2, 2008

Oooh. I bet you’d be great at ceramics. Auditing can be great fun, I found out not too long ago that the local major college (Vassar) allows that.

January 2, 2008

you haven’t bought undies since 2000? Dang, you take good care of yours. And yeah, I wear underwear that is COMFORTABLE. And if I get hit by a bus… who cares then anyway what underwear I have on? it had me chuckle. And take the classes… when you wrote about them before you seemed to love them sooo much 🙂

January 3, 2008

OOOOO, I would hate for book 3 to get to me before book 1. What a tease!!! Happy New Year!
