The Sun is Shining!
Time: 8:07
Energy Level: High
Positives for the day: Three more classes left
Physically I feel: Very well
Mentally I feel: Excellent
Not counting today, I have three classes left! I am a bit taken aback to realize that I have to prepare a 3 to 5 minute talk in Italian AND write a 5 page reflective essay in that time. The subject of both of them has to be the teaching of the fourth graders which I am not even going to do until the 27th! Eeeep! I am really slacking off in these last few weeks and I know I am not going to get my usual A in this class. Oh, well, it is not important.
{watches regular readers faint and fall to the ground}
Ummm, yes, this is ME — the erstwhile Super Student saying this! I have been working quite hard and with great success, I think, in convincing myself that grades are not important at this time in my life. These days I am not trying to make A’s so that my father will love me–which was the original source of my extreme focus on grades. Why I am back in school at this time in my life is because I enjoy learning so the things that are important are the learning itself, enjoying what I am doing and not being excessively stressed. Mind you, I think a little stress is not at all a bad thing. Yes, I am a bit stressed at the thought of having to construct a five-page essay {In English} AND a talk {in Italian} in the short time I will have after I give the lesson, but it is something that I KNOW I can do, and indeed, am mentally doing even as I write this.
For example, I got my cards back from the last talk I gave and I can use them as the basis of this new one because both talks are on the same subject. The major part of the essay is about what i actually did so that can’t be done until I do it which won’t be until the 27th but the philosophical reflective part I could do right now and will probably start tomorrow.
Positives for today:
- The sun is shining and I am amazed how much my spirts are lifted.
- my missing software should arrive tomorrow.
- I did reasonably well in portion control yesterday which is an incentive to continue today
- I get to drive my new car today.
- Look down–new quote. It came in this morning’s email and I immediately loved it.
- the grammar homework I hand in today is the last for the year…
QUOTATION: If your ship doesn’t come in, swim out to it!

GOOD FOR YOU!! :o) !! *weesprite stands up and cheers!* And these last few classes are going by fast, too! I love your new outlook that you don’t need to worry about grades at this point in your life, when you are free to learn for the sheer joy of learning. I only recently (in the past few years) figured that out also. Life is more fun now, and I (and you) are STILL learning just as much! hugs, Weesprite

Do you ever reflect on grades you gave to students and how teachers now could use this reflection as a teaching aid for the less driven for grade and more driven for knowledge? Guess where I fell and couldn’t get up? Good on you for learning this wonderful flowing language. Have fun today…dan

Cool quote! *adds to whiteboard* Boy, I’m torn on the grade thing. My obsessive side says, “No! No! No slacking off!” But the side of me who wants to just relax and enjoy life, says, “You go, girl!”

Funny, I saw that same quote posted on the bilboard at our local library. I’ve been joking around and saying that our sunk so we don’t know exactly where to swim too. LOL So glad you have the ” new attitude ” on your classes. I think you will enjoy them much more if you are not constantly worrying about getting that “A” Hugs, M
