The Strange Pain

I think it was Friday that I was doing leg lifts and overdid it a bit. Anyway, Saturday, I had definite muscle pains in the upper part of my left leg. So, Sunday I went for a massage and Monday it was still hurting. Tuesday was weird. I could stand putting full weight on my left leg with no pain but the minute I moved, it was really, really bad. It was so bad that I actually went back to using a cane in the house and when I forgot the cane, I supported myself by moving from one piece of furniture to another. It was so bad that I told Fred that if it wasn’t showing signs of getting better by today, I was going to call for an emergency appointment…

I don’t think I have mentioned that we have had no television since Saturday? I called Dish Network and spent a long time on the phone trying this and that, but no programs. So, an appointment was made to have a tech person come to the house on Tuesday and find out what the problem was. We were told that we had to have a clear area of three feet behind every television when they arrived. Now, moving stuff was not too bad in the living room but I have a bag of recycleable paper, a bag of things I intend to offer on Freecycle and a box of shoes all piled up preventing access to the back of the TV in the bedroom. So, as well as moving a bit of furniture in the living room. I also had all these bags and boxes piled high on the bed. And, remember, I was doing all this when every movement of my left leg sent a stabbing pain through me.

Yesterday afternoon, two techs appeared and the first thing they asked was did we pay our bill! I had to laugh because that is what had occurred to me, too. I am sure you remember the wonderful bank woman who cancelled the wrong debit card and how I had to cancel the other one and wait for two new ones? One of those canceled cards was for our household account and the Dish Network payment is deducted automatically out of the household account. So, when I called, I had the person I was speaking to check that for me, and, no, the old card had been accessed and we didn’t need to pay again until the middle of this months. Anyway, I gave her the number of the new card so we are alright there. Anyway, what it turned out to be was what they call the Smart Card which had suddenly become stupid and stopped working!  So, the techs had the built-in card reauthorized and a new card is being sent…

So, the minute the tech people left, I put all the stuff on the bed back on the floor and lay down with the Kindle for about an hour. Now comes the strange part. When I got up, the pain in the upper part of my leg that had been extremely painful an hour before was gone! Absolutely and completely gone. Not even a residual ache left when I poked the muscle quite hard. And it was still not there this morning.. not even a ghost of it! That is the weirdest thing. Usually, a severe pain dies away gradually but not this time. And it has been just the same today, as good as it has ever been.

So, I don’t know!

I’m glad the pain went away, but I’d be cautious too, until you hit just the right spot. I hope that won’t happen! And we used to have DishNetwork, the worst service ever, not to mention when you call it quits with them, they will turn out BAD. I learned that the hard way 🙂 I hope it won’t happen to you though, maybe they are finally getting their act together. How is your purse doing? I got mine later that week and had lots of compliments because of the way it looks and that I won’t have to hang it over one shoulder. 🙂

Glad your pain came and went. It does sound strange. Maybe a pulled muscle?

April 1, 2009

Maybe your new joint is connected to the SMART card on your dish net card!!! hahahaha They really are doing wonderful things with the new generation of implants hehehehe Keep an eye on it and don’t let this go on as it could be something serious! Be well and have fun….dan

maybe it was a pinched nerve and all that moving got it… unpinched? I don’t know. Its a mystery to me too!

That IS weird. When you call for help with anything techhie, the first words out of their mouths usually imply that YOU are at fault, not THEM. I hate that. But I’m happy they found the solution to the problem.

How strange about the disappearing pain, but very good.

That Kindle really performs miracles! LOL

Weird, but don’t complain!

Pain reminds us we’re still alive. Now that you’ve been reminded, it can go away again! Glad all is well.

April 2, 2009

so glad that pain went away but it sure makes you wonder what was going on. glad they found the solution to your tv problem. take care,

The pains sounds like the physical manifestation of an emotional issue. As soon as you resolved the emotional issue the pain disappeared. Makes sense to me.

Usually it all works the other way around. I hope that this is a sign that it won’t be coming back, either.

whatever you do never take a muscle relaxant! i took one Tuesday before bed and the next day I was still groggy! YAHOO! LOL

April 2, 2009

You must have put something a bit out of place and then when you had to move all the stuff it went back in again! Glad your tv could be fixed… it’s a PITA to have to go without it! (huggles)

That is the strangest thing I have ever heard. No pain ever goes away that quickly. Happy Spring!

April 2, 2009

Well I’m glad it went away! 🙂 Be well,

Shi

Wow, interesting it went away like that. But better it left quickly then came on quickly and didn’t want to leave.

These things usually are the fault of the technology aren’t they?

That is really strange about the pain to disappear like it did. Hope it stays gone!!

What a very strange thing with your leg! Well, anyway, thank goodness!

That’s odd. Must have been a nerve pinched.

April 6, 2009

I agree with the previous noter, I think it was a pinched nerve. Something similar happened to me years ago. The doctors tested me for all kinds of circulation problems. After ruling everything else out, they concluded that it must have been a pinched nerve. Has never happened again.
