The Decision Is Made!

Right after I had written the previous entry about not making a decision, I made a decision. I gritted my teeth and tackled the school’s web site. Much to my amazement, it was actually easy to find where one inserted "auditing" but after it was all over {and I registered for both classes} I noticed that at the top of the page where it was telling me which classes I was registered for, was a red entry saying that I could not audit either of these classes! {Insert a HUGE and dramatic eye roll in here }.  Classes start on the 22nd. Some time before then I will print off everything {including my receipt for paying $75 for materials for ceramics and $50 for that "fee" } and find someone at the college who can either explain to me WHY I can’t audit or who will change my status. Fred told me this morning not to worry about this since it didn’t really matter what kind of a grade I got!  Which is, of course, true! So, maybe I won’t worry. If I don’t move to an auditing status, it will be a good test of my resolve not to be ruled by grades!

I went to Wal-marts this morning and got new underwear, a new shower curtain, a new small omelet pan, aa HUGE container of detergent for washing clothes and, finally,  wooden clothespins  {which we use for closing up chip and bread bags.} What I didn’t get was a heavy-duty paper shredder partly because I am finding it difficult to spend around $80 for a good one. And I need a good one. Over the last two years I have destroyed three of them that cost about 20 dollars each. I use a shredder for bank statements and all those unsolicited credit cards I get… I wish our bank would go to no-paper statements as some do. My car is financed with Wachovia and they give one the option of no paper and send emails to remind me when the payments are due.. Both Fred and I peruse our bank accounts on line and have no need of the paper statements we get every so often which mostly go straight into the shredder anyway!I finished up the shopping by going to MacDonalds–a place I haven’t been for years and getting a hamburger and fries. It was Ok. It will probably be years before I go back! Ok, now I am off the the college’s website to inflict more punishment on myself and find out what books I need…

Is there any place that offer paper shredding? In our town, there was a handicapped fella who offered the service to all, for a small fee, and then arranged that the shredded paper be donated to the local animal shelter.

I just bought a nice, small shredder at Office Depot, for about $80.

🙂 well done you. Really, it doesn’t matter what grade you get if you can’t audit because ultimately you are doing it just for you. It sounds completely stupid that you can’t audit though – surely that just means less work for the teachers?! I’d love that personally.

Wonder why there are restrictions on auditing certain classes. Very happy that the decision is made, though. And now that I know you have proper undies I won’t worry so much about you if you get in an accident! HAHAHAHAHA!

I hope you get everything straightened out at the college. Maybe someone there can keep you on auditing the class, but it wasn’t possible for YOU to do it online. It won’t hurt to check. Good luck! (((Hugs)))

I use wooden closepins for everything. They hold my duffel bags and book bags hanging up downstairs, I put little pcs of magnets on the rear and use them on the fridge to hold school papers…..and they are wonderful as chip bag clasps 🙂

At Disney we went to MacDonalds. The nuggets and fries were yummy.

Let me know if there is any help I can give on the ceramics…

Way to go!

Hope you find a good cross-cutting shredder. The cut in both directions, so it cuts up the paper into confetti. People can still put the strip kind together and they can read complete lines that may have confidential info. on them. Yea for you for registering!

I do hope they’ll get things sorted out for you about the classes. We have ‘burn bags’ here at the house, and it ends up in the fireplace as tinder. Works well.

My community bank will let any of their customers bring in materials to be shredded. They keep the shred bin under lock and key and I feel very safe taking my stuff there to be shredded. You should ask your local bank if they will let you bring your stuff in.
