The Day Before
- Since I am getting on a plane to NC very early tomorrow morning, I really do not want to have diarrhea. Which I do have. However, generic anti-diarrhea pills are my best friend this morning… Ever since 2000 when my pelvic area was radiated as part of the mop-up procedure after uterine cancer, anti-diarrhea pills are a staple in my house.
- OK, one of my questions answered. If I need a prescription refill while I am in NC, I just walk into a Rite-Aid locally, hand over my prescription bottle and all will be well! And I found the Dramamine. I have never actually thrown up on a plane but there have been several times when I felt as if i was going to.
- It has been so long since I actually traveled anywhere, I have butterflies at the thought!
- Things I need to do before the day is over:
- Make sure I have a cab to pick me up and take me to the airport at a very early hour. {Call this afternoon}
- Go to the bank and get money. I will have my debit card with me but since I am requesting a wheelchair as I change gates at NYC, I want to be sure I have money to tip. {Go after hair cut}
- Get my hair trimmed. It is at the annoying stage where it is just long enough on top to flop! {Get this done first}
- Check to see if my neighbors can use an unopened quart of milk. I have no idea what I was thinking of when I bought it knowing I was leaving for 3 weeks! I am slow on the uptake at time, but in my defense, I have stopped putting donuts in the shopping cart for Fred!
- Make sure I pack my cell phone charger and the one for the Kindle which is where I do most of my reading. Also, make sure my eye drops, the Dramamine and the anti-diarrhea pills are in my carry-on purse. I have decided not to take my Kindle Fire with me. I do read on it a bit but mostly I use it to play games, read Facebook, and buy stuff from Amazon! I am not taking a lap top with me because my son assured me that I can use his.
- Decide what I am going to wear to travel in. Comfort is important.
I have already made arrangements about mail.- Water the big cactus plant really thoroughly. I usually water it once a week but I am pretty sure it will be OK left for 3 weeks after a deep watering. {Do this before going out to get haircut and then again in the late afternoon}
OK, time to stop procrastinating and proceed with the day…
Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone. ~Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers)
You are not happy because you are well. You are well because you are
happy. You are not depressed because trouble has come to you, but
trouble has come to you because you are depressed. You can change
your thoughts and feelings, and then the outer things will come to
correspond, and indeed there is no other way of working.

I’ve learned to wear slip on shoes or slippers when I travel. And keep a list of all my scrips and doctors in the baggie with the pills, saves many problems. Makes getting through that security line a lot faster I must say.
