Ten Things

Ten general comments:

  1. The loaf with Cheddar and Parmesan cheese that is in the machine right now is at the point where it is smelling delicious.
  2. I have eaten three of Schwan’s fudge sticks already today.
  3. I went for a walk in the rain–in the COLD rain.
  4. Fred has just gone up to the grocery store after perusing the weekly flier.
  5. The book club meeting is on Tuesday. I liked Quartet in Autumn by Barbara Pym better than I thought I would.
  6. The fan in our bedroom is broken. This is a problem because we both like the feeling of air blowing on us even in winter.
  7. Because of the time of year, I have a heavy coat AND a lighter coat hanging over the back of a chair.
  8. I find myself thinking about my next pencil sketch and the class on Friday next.
  9. Since we have made inroads on the white bread I made for Robin, I need to make another loaf tomorrow  to take to her on Monday when I go to tutor her again.
  10. I wonder how many calories per slice this new cheese loaf will be…

Ten Things I am Wearing:

  1. White socks–THICK white socks
  2. Blue and white walking shoes in a size 11 wide
  3. Pale blue jeans in size 14.
  4. A grey and white cotton sweater
  5. A white sports bra but only because I cleaned out my underwear drawer last night and found several sports bras I had forgotten I owned.
  6. White cotton panties
  7. Mascara
  8. Lip balm because I just went out for a walk and it is chilly here.
  9. “Flowers” by Kenzo lotion. I am experimenting with different perfumes and lotions these days. When I was younger I was very limited as to what I could wear because most perfumes ended up smelling very odd after a time, but my body chemistry seems to have become more “normal” as I get older.
  10. Dark blue little dangling earrings.

Ten Good Things about my Life

  1. Fred is in it.
  2. I  do only what I want to do.
  3. I am taking a basic art class
  4. The local book club is introducing me to different authors and different genres from those I normally read.
  5. My DVD player which was a gift from my younger son last Christmas
  6. Netflix
  7. I am still walking and still getting pleasure from walking.
  8. I have  a few of the aches and pains associated with getting older but, on the whole, I am healthy enough to be able to do anything I want to do.
  9. I have enough money to pay my bills and to be able to frivol away a small amount wuihout being worried about it.
  10. A DSL connection

Ten Good Objects in my Life:

  1. My iPod which sometimes is the only reason I  go for a walk.
  2. My bread machine.
  3. My new digital camera
  4. My new ultra-thin, no frame, darkening-in-the-light glasses
  5. My bright yellow, thinsulate-lined, Land’s End winter jacket
  6. My old-but-good dark-green Kia Sephia car
  7. My Sony Vaio laptop with its wireless connection to the Internet
  8. My paper shredder to destroy all the unasked-for applications for credit cards.
  9. My small  collection of DVD which include “Star Wars, I Claudius, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy,” and “Monty Python’s Search for the Holy Grail”
  10. Fred’s apple slicer and corer which I use more than he does.

Until later…

I walked in the cold rain today too, for around 30 mintues and actually thought of you because I remembered that you still walk when it’s raining.. I made myself go around the block again ..

You can stop the credit card offers at optoutprescreen.com–I did this some time ago and miraculously they’ve stopped. I was a bit skeptical! You can do it for 5 years or permanently. Cheers!

One of my favorite things about OD: You are writing about walking in the cold rain and I am wearing shorts and have my front door open to catch a breeze here at the beach. Fun! ryn: I usually have horizontal rules throughout my entries (the divider thingies) and I didn’t do them in that entry because I didn’t feel like messing with them, so it was a warning to readers that it would be a (c)

(2) disjointed entry (as usual) but without the dividers to indicate a new thought. And, since I use an iBook I am unable to access the wyswyg feature of OD. Still, you rock for trying to be helpful.

I went out in the cold rain today, too, wearing a winter coat and gloves. I love these “Ten Things” surveys. Netflix is one of my favorite things these days; so is my bread machine, in which a loaf of oatmeal bread is rising at the moment.

When I am 70, I want to be you.

Well, I want to be me, but living in the way you do. :o)

I LOVE Barbara Pym, and Quartet in Autumn was the first one by her I read. I think my favorite is An Unsuitable Attachment. The character with whom I identify most is the snoopy Dulcie in No Fond Return of Love. Also I love Excellent Women and Some Tame Gazelle.

Also, the 7th Annual North American Barbara Pym Society is having its festival this weekend at Harvard. I just looked this up. I love my iPod also, as possessions go. I love the illicit thrill of recharging it at work.

: ) very interesting and positive!

April 2, 2005

I liked this a lot. You have a lot to be happy about.

April 2, 2005

hmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe I need to get an ipod!

April 2, 2005

These are great. Like little views deeper into my friends.

Man, I respect a lady who walks in the rain. You’re untouchable and strong. Not a wimp.

April 2, 2005

what a great idea…may do this myself some time. Hope you are enjoying the new camera. Does this mean we can expect some photos logged on here?

April 3, 2005

I am definitely going to use you as an inspiration and go walking with my iPod on the days I cannot make it to the gym. Every little bit helps, I think!

April 3, 2005

I have never found a good recipe for either bread machine or bread from scratch. Neither tastes as good as store bought bread

April 3, 2005

Isn’t I, Claudius great? It’s one of my favorite minis, glad to see that someone else likes it.

April 3, 2005

I am glad that things are going well for you.

What neat lists. It helps to count our “blessings”, even if they are apple-corers.
