Sunny and Cool
Well, this morning I stuck my nose out of doors for a moment and then went and dressed for the weather! Last week I put away all my winter sweaters and got out all the short-sleeved tops. Until today, I have been trying to convince myself that sunshine = heat, but it was a losing battle. This morning is sunny and cool and I am wearing a rather nice bright-yellow sweatshirt and feeling much more comfortable.
Even though I slept for about two hours yesterday afternoon, I had no trouble sleeping all night. I did wake up {and get up} an hour earlier than I usually do, but getting up anywhere between 5 am and 7 am works for me and being up at 6 am as I was this morning was no hardship.
One thing I really have to do is to send email to the school in Italy telling them the time and date that I am arriving in Pisa so that they can arrange a pick-up to the school. I don’t know why I am not doing it. I have my ticket, I have the address of where to send the email… Ok, time to get that chore out of the way.
What I am mentally organizing is my trip to the hospital next month. I need to get the house as clean as I can and all the laundry up to date before I go. I will only be in hospital 2 to 3 days after the surgery day but I also need to organize some paperback books and some music. I am thinking about the little lime-green shuffle IPod I have because it will clip onto whatever I am wearing. Actually, on second thoughts, I will probably forego music and leave the shuffle at home. It will be one more thing to keep up with… I also have to put some "going home" clothes in a bag and make sure that Fred knows where they are. I cannot remember if the nurse said that the Red Cross will call me about the stockpiled blood or if I am supposed to call them to set it up. The nurse did give me a card with the number to call her if I have questions….
Ok, a list:
- call nurse with questions
- move Fred’s walker from the back of my car to the back of his
- clean kitchen and bathroom
- continue with work room cleanup. It is getting done albeit a bit slowly.
- get the totes with Fred’s winter clothes off the table.
- maybe wash clothes? No promises here.
- send email to the school in Italy re pickup from Pisa
Tomorrow, I will be settantatrè or seventy-three!

My dad left his cell phone charger at the hospital when he was in at Christmas. Needless to say he had to buy another one as they ( the nurses ) couldn’t ” locate it.” You would think they would have a lost and found place. Hugs, M

Happy Birthday!!! I hope you have a lovely one. You must have been very tired to still sleep good after such a long nap. I have done that before, too, and it always amazes me! I’m loving the weather right now. I hope it stays warm and beautiful for you, too!

Oh Patricia, I love the way you are organised. Perhaps you could leave your ipod where Fred knows where to find it just in case you get bored and want it in the hospital after all?

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you. Thanks for the note you left on my diary. Best of luck with the surgery. The iPod is actually one thing you might want to have if you won’t be unconscious or out of it the whole time. I know I would’ve been lost without mine after my surgery, b/c sometimes it’s the only way I can sleep.

Happy Birthday Patrisha!!!! RYN: Ummm, telling her what I think doesn’t usually work to my benefit. She starts crying and then E gets upset and I end up being guilted into an apology. She’s just a stubborn woman that thinks everything has to be done her way and when she wants it done. She’s very hard to be around, as I’m sure you can tell from my diary. L Have a good one!! Hugs, M

I am guessing the surgery is for your hip. My uncle had that done and it changed how he felt by 100%. I know what you mean about weather. I want it to be warm so bad, I feel a little blue when I have to wear anything related to winter.
