- I have decided I just can’t be bothered to go on with the "Buffy" series from Netflix. Yes, I love the cheeky dialog but, well, I just can’t get over the total implausibility of the whole thing! So, before I put this one out to go back, I need to hop over there to check my queue.
- I subscribe to two groups, my local freecycle and a Kindle one called {rather annoyingly cutesy} KindleKorner. There are generally 12 to 15 emails a day from each group although with the announcement of the new Kindle, the traffic on KK has increased. I generally read through them quickly, write the occasional comment and delete. But much to my surprise, yesterday there was a total absence of email from either group. I thought at first it was Fair Point problems. There has been a lot in the local paper and on TV about the email problems some people have been having but until this yesterday, I have had no problems. However, I found out this morning via a message from a freecycler whose husband is picking up something from me tomorrow that she has been getting messages from Yahoo that emails sent to me are bouncing! So, I hop over to Yahoo and check my account to find that somehow, my primary address, the fairpoint one, has "not been verified." This means they send me an email and I click on their link. Now, I remember doing that. I can’t go back to check because with the exception of my family, I delete emails immediately and trash is emptied when I close Thunderbird, So, anyway, I jump through their hoops yet one more time, and everything seems back to normal with emails from those groups popping in at intervals… So, we shall see.
- Steven King has a new novella written especially for the Kindle. I couldn’t resist buying it this morning even though I stopped reading King several years ago. I decided that I didn’t need to pay good money to be harrowed and frightened. And once I start reading his books, I have to finish because I find his writing compulsively readable. But I decided to get this one because {a} it is short {B} it is cheap –$2.99 and {c} it was written especially to go along with the issuing of the Kindle2! The book is called UR.
- We are having company on Saturday. I told Fred this morning that this was my last day of freedom. Housecleaning starts tomorrow! I do clean up when it is only us two, but I don’t feel pressured to do so unless company is coming!
- I watched "Top Chef" last night and was so pleased to see Fabio do so well and go through to the finals. I gave an audible gasp when he broke his little finger! So, now it is Fabio, Stephan, Hosea and one woman, Carla, battling it out in New Orleans next week. It would be hard for me to choose unless I could do it on the basis of cuteness, in which case it would be Fabio! He is Italian, good looking and has a lovely accent!
- It is raining and washing the snow away. However, since this is Vermont, I feel sure there will be more snow…

Knowing that company is coming is great motivation for me too, to get the house spiffy-looking.

I love Fabio, too! I try not to drool too much when my fiance is watching Top Chef with me. 😉

I never knew Fabio cooked! I reckon I’d let him come cook for me if he wanted to…. just to be polite, ya know? :o) !! I like to be scared, but I do NOT like to be grossed out, and so much scary stuff is also ikky and gross. Stephen King just seemed to be going over the edge, to me….I stopped reading him after “Gerald’s Game”! hugs, Nicky

We’re getting more snow today, too. I stopped reading King for the same reason. I think Salem’s Lot was the last one I read.

The premise of the King Kindle book (has a certain ring to it!)sounds interesting. But, I can’t stomach his scarey books. Can you read it now or do you have to wait until you get your Kindle2?

We’re having a nice day in the high-60’s, except that it is also VERY windy. It’s gusting up to 40 MPH, and I watched a peacock get blown off the tree limb earlier.

Yep, I do that very thing when company is coming, too! It’s silly really, but I do like my house to look and smell fresh when company comes over.

Nothing wrong with a good healthy fright now and again. LOL

I saw on Amazon today that there was a lot about the Kindle 2 being up. I am so tempted… I haven’t watched last nights TC, but intend to soon — I think it’s going to be either Fabio or Stephan in the end. I did like watching the Le Bernardin episode, that was one that certainly hit the high marks. And I’m glad to see Carla in the finals.

I actually still like some of his older work, some of the short stories he wrote. He does just draw one in and hold them in his stories.

ooh, I didn’t know Stephen King had written a book for Kindle! I’d like to read it, I usually like his short stories, but my favourite Steven King story is The Stand. oh, ryn that I didn’t reply to but meant to: Abstract is so much more difficult, isn’t it! I don’t know why, it seems counter-intuitive, doesn’t it? Perhaps, with realistic art, you can always refer to what you see but withabstract, you need to put in that extra bit of mental effort to reimagine reality?

I’m with you on the cleaning! I need company on the horizon to get a decent cleaning out!
