Spending Money on Kindle Books

I love it when we start a new month and like magic money appears in my account! I have had to put myself on a buying-Kindle-books diet because it is much too easy to do the click-to-buy routine. When the new month rolls around I have a bit more money to spend again. Right now, I am reading my way through Perri O’Shaugnessy’s books. {Yes, I DO know that she is actually two sisters! } I had read one or two of her mysteries before in the the old-fashioned way in a dead-tree book,  but there are several I hadn’t got from the library that I now have on the Kindle. Actually, I am going to go over the "allowance " I have earmarked for books this month because I will also be getting Michael Connelly’s new one on the 14th {on the Kindle for $9.95} and a fairly expensive book {almost four times the cost of the ConnelLy book} about using GIMP when it comes out. This second edition is not on the Kindle, but interestingly enough, the first edition has been formatted for  the Kindle. This is a how-to-do book and I don’t think the illustrations would show too well on the Kindle.  GIMP? That is a free very-much-like-Photoshop program which I have used before. I got myself to the point where I know I need help with all the bells and whistles, and from what I have read about it, this is just the book I need.

This is the time of the year when I am always at a loss to decide what to wear when I go out. This morning I walked to the drug store wearing a long quilted coat, a turtle-fur band over my ears and a scarf aound my neck. I was glad of the scarf since there was a nasty little wind but by the time i got home, I was much too hot. When I go out tomorrow, I will wear a lighter jacket. This means I will be a little chilly when I start walking but that is a good incentive to walk briskly. It also means that I will not be overheated when I get home. And that I will enjoy my walk much more.

Until later…

I can’t believe all the differences in weather around these states. It’s still in the 70’s here… was even in the 80’s this weekend. It will be getting cold soon… but I haven’t even seen any stitch of evidence that the trees are turning… well, I’ve started see a few extra leaves in the yards… but no colors yet.

I looked at GIMP. In fact, I think I downloaded it, but I seem to remember it had a lot of separate windows and it was just too confusing, so I deleted it. I wish I had more time to conquer it.

Yes, it’s the dress in layers season – I wore my furry(fake) vest this evening.

Ooooh, I wish we would get some of that nice, cool, crisp air down here! I would also LOVE it if we had some good apples!! You just can’t get good ones here because it doesn’t get cold enough. Bummer! Hugs,M

I didn’t know turtles had fur! :o) !! It’s been light-jacket-weather here, but only in the mornings. Then it gets warm enough to go without a jacket. If I wear long pants to work, I end up too warm by the time I get off work. But that will soon change! hugs, Weesprite

I also have to be careful at the beginning of the bank but often I’m not and by the end of the month I have nothing.

those kindle books are so cheaply buy-able! I feel your pain; I’m on a My Little Pony diet. I’ve tried GIMP and didn’t like it, because I didn’t think it compressed graphics as nicely as Photoshop can. But it’s free, which is great!

I haven’t tried Kindle–I guess I’m glad to hear electronic books are doable. Btw, I did buy the new Paintshop Pro, but I haven’t used it yet, but I’m totally in love with the new SmartDraw. So you can see why I’m in Debt.

I will look into GIMP–thanks for the suggestion.
