Some Things I look Forward To
1. In our refrigerator there is still half a watermelon. To think I lived in the South for over 30 years and never had a seedless watermelon before! Mind you, watermelons with seeds are good too. I remember a row of little boys sitting along the edge of my pool eating water melons and spitting the seeds back over their shoulders into the grass behind them. {Dire threats starting with “Everyone out of the pool for the rest of the day” were uttered about what would happen if I saw even ONE watermelon seed in the pool!}
2. In a week, I am getting my new computer. This is not something I need but something I WANT. I have a lot of difficulty using my money to buy myself something I want as opposed to something I need. This computer is being put together for me by a local shop. I went in the other day and asked their price for what I wanted. It is a little more than getting it from Gateway or Dell but it is worth it to me to deal with someone local. Nancy the tech says she will call me when it is done and she will bring it out to the house and set it up for me. She also said she will transfer things I want to keep from the old to the new one. AND I have already found a good home for this one. The sister of our really nice neighbors who lives in the upstairs apartment over our very nice neighbors is delighted to give it a good home. She knows that it comes without a monitor {I LOVE my 17 inch monitor and do not want to replace it} and says she is going to hunt a cheap monitor so when I am ready to give it to her, she will be ready to set it up.
3. My sister wrote and gave me the dates we will be in Southampton {England} for my niece’s wedding. Originally Tabitha {my niece} and Duncan were going to do this at a stately home but, apparently, these places are booked up years in advance and so, instead, she is getting married at the local Hilton where we also have rooms. I like the idea that I can get a little tiddly on champagne and not have to drive! I am sharing the room with Toby, my nephew, brother of the bride, so I can’t be too much of a bad example! LOL Toby will probably shock me! He came to Vermont with my sister and it will be nice to see him again. He is clever and very funny.
4. We learned today that our neighbor C. is {in addition to going to school at the New England Institute of Cookery} working for a nearby restaurant called “A Touch of Dixie!” He heartily recommends the catfish…I forgot to ask him did they do hushpuppies. We have decide we have got to try it! So, a new restaurant to look forward to. Another place to eat fish which we both like.
I love having things to look forward to.
