Some News

I went to physical therapy on Wednesday and Nancy, the physical therapist I started with, was back from her trip to Arizona. She watched me walking to the area where I changed and commented that I seem to be walking a little better. {She hadn’t seen me for three sessions} When I was in the pool and before I started exercising, she asked if she could check my hips again as she did when I first started going there. When I said she could, she checked both sides with her fingertips and said she could feel a little improvement on the side where the abductor muscle had atrophied and that I seemed to building muscle back there. Now, I actually HAD noticed that I was walking a little better myself so I was pleased to have this confirmed. It is also making me be super conscientious about the exercises I do at home! She is giving me a strength test on Monday and if there is documented improvement, Medicare will pay for further therapy in the pool. I am trying not to get too excited about the improvement. I want to be able to walk without a stick so much and I don’t want to have to deal with disappointment.

I hope everyone has a lovely  Fourth of July tomorrow. And remember, if the British had won, you would all have lovely accents like me!

And nothing happens unless it can happen

When that which can happen, does in fact happen

It cannot be considered a miracle

Hence there are no miracles."

Yay for progress. 🙂

Great job! I’ll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you. I understand exactly what you’re talking about here, because I’m still at the point where my hips don’t move enough to keep my muscles stretched and toned. I’m going to have to do the same thing you’re doing, once my hips are replaced. Once again, you give me great hope. Love ya! ~M

The comment on accents makes me wish I could hear your voice. ~~~ Best of luck with the therapy and exercises.

That’s terrific news about the therapy! You go, woman! And thank you very much for the comment on the Barnes novel — it’s looking as though they are going to be bringing back most of her work, so keep your eyes peeled.

That is terrific news! Your hard work is paying off.

I do love the accent. The company that cleans our house is called A British Touch and she has a lovely accent.

YAAAY, Congrats!! I hope the muscle continues to improve and you qualify for more therapy – :)! Also – as much as I’d like to have a lovely accent like yours, if we ALL did, it wouldn’t be so special on you! 🙂 {{{HUGS}}}!!

I’m so impressed with all of the hard work you’ve done to get your hip back in shape 🙂 Keep up the awesome work.

I like your accent better than our accent….so maybe I wish the British HAD won….?? (I suppose I’d better not go around saying so tomorrow! :o) !!) hugs, Nicky

Having actually heard your accent I can attest is a soft and cultured and lovely British. Hooray for progress on the physical therapy.

I am glad a professional corroborated your improvement. I disagree with Cicero – yes, I believe in cause and effect… and sometimes we cannot see the causes… but there still ARE miracles!

It sounds obvious that there is improvement. Here’s hoping for a great measuarement.

If you want to build up those adductor muscles, we need to get you in the saddle! Nothing like being on horseback to build them up. (It’s the most common reason people walk funny after riding. They’re not used to using that muscle group.)

hope you are able to get more p/t. sounds like you’re well on your way to qualify for more. would love to hear your voice and your accent. take care,

Good luck. It’s great to make progress, and I can only imagine that walking without a stick will feel a lot more autonomous.

that would be wonderful news to have Medicare to allow more pool therapy. I wish I could get it through insurance too…. 🙂

Great news! Keep up the good work!
