Small Stuff Again

I washed and dried two loads of clothes this morning. The going up and down stair {plus the walk to Robin’s apartment and the walking up and down the four flights of stairs to and from her apartment } counted as my morning walk. I walked in the rain for 30 minutes this afternoon.

 This afternoon I noticed we had two very ripe {think black skins} in the fruit bowl. Later on I found a recipe for banana bread in one of my two new bread machines recipe book. The recipe said that the bananas should be “very ripe.”As I gingerly removed the skins I verified that, yes, these were actually very ripe. I squished them up in a measuring  cup and found that I had half a cup. This was enough to make a one-pound loaf so I did. It was very good but could use more bananas.

Tomorrow I go back to help Robin at 2 pm and over to the library in the evening for the book club discussion at 7 pm. It will be interesting to hear the take of the others on the Barbara Pym book. Next month the book choice is Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. I liked this one much more than I liked The Da Vinci Code which I have to admit I couldn’t get beyond the first couple of pages.

It is getting to the time of year when I change from sweaters to long-sleeved cotton tops. But I can’t put the sweaters away completely because since this is Vermont, it is possible we might have snow still. This makes for a more-than-usually cluttered bedroom. Today it has rained all day and it “feels like 33 degrees.” I put my heavy winter coat, scarf, warm gloves and hat pulled down over my ears when I went for a walk in the rain today. A day or so ago, I was out with a vest and no coat! Anyway, later this week I am going through all my cotton tops and get rid of some of the bigger and older ones on Free Cycle.

Things to do in the next couple of days:

  • Move all the winter sweaters, get out the summer shirts and pick out the ones I want to get rid of.
  • Finish sorting out the earrings and hanging up the necklaces and bracelets {Having them out where I can see them is working very well.}
  • Clean off the paperwork piled up on my desk {Fred is setting me a good example cleaning off his table.}
  • Walk, walk again, and walk some more!
  • Start on my sketch. {I have it worked out in my head what I want to do. Now, I just have to do it.}
  • Get my bike out of the back shed and pump up the tires.
  • Vacuum the floor.

Until later…

I just ran into your diary while clicking “Random Entry”. Congratulations on losing the weight but more important, having the drive, energy and determination. I also give amire your strength to get out of a bad relationship even though it had to have been a very difficult and emotionally straining ultimate decision with a young child.

And by the way, you look absolutly amazing for 70. I honestly would not have guessed you to be that. I hope I can take care of myself as much as you have proven to do for yourself 🙂

If you want to ripen bananas for bread, put them in the freezer and freeze them. When they thaw out, they are squishy for baking!

I enjoy reading your “small stuff” entries. I agree with the above noter, you look mahvelous for 70! And now I’m going to make like your little snoozy head and head for bed myself!

I went for a brisk 30 minute walk with my iPod today, Patrisha, and I was thinking of you!

Today, my favorite lady attorney took me and the boss out for lunch at Macaroni Grill. She couldn’t stop talking about Angels and Demons. She says it mirrors what is going on with the Pope now, almost exactly. I want to read that book.

merlyn and i walked in the mist yesterday. don’t like walking in the rain at all. rather walk in light snow. today should be a much nicer day for walking. perhaps, we’ll walk twice today. take care,

What is your sketch of? I admire the way you walk everyday. Something I should be doing…………..

It is closet bulging season, with the weather swinging one way and then another.

I think everyone’s bedroom and closets bulge at this in between time of winter to spring. I always have bananas that get too ripe , I peel them and stuff them in a ziplock bag in the freezer until I get time to make banana bread.

Do you enjoy riding a bike? I have considered buying one but not sure how much I would enjoy it.
