Shopping Trip

This morning I headed out to get some shorts and a comfortable computer chair. I thought twice about going today because today is RealSaturday and everyone who works goes shopping on this day. . {For retired folks, every day is Saturday!  } But since I woke up full of energy, I decided to go anyway and brave the crowds. Last night I looked at Walmart’s site  on line and knew the kinds of shorts they had there and so that was where I went first.

Now, I have mentioned this before and it is still true. Walmart buyers hate me. When I was a size 18, there was a miserable choice of clothing in that size. Now I am a size 14, the larger ones have proliferated and it was difficult to find a size 14. But I pressed on and finished with two pairs of knee-length shorts, one pair of short shorts and—something I never thought I would look good in–a skort. {In case you haven’t seen one of these before, they are shorts from the back but a skirt in the front. } I brought it home and tried it on, and I look pretty good in it! {Maybe I will get brave and try capris? Nah!}

I had seen a nice looking computer chair at Walmarts on line so I went over to look in their furniture section. Now, I am not going to buy a chair in a box if I have not sat in it first, and Walmarts had none of their computer chair samples put together so I left there and went to Staples. There I found a lovely chair, exactly what I want with a high back and padded arms. And it was on sale. So, I bought it.   It is out in the back of my car right now and I will ask Mike, my landlord to bring it upstairs when he is able to. Then Fred will put it together for me when he feels up to it. There is no hurry on this. The one I have is not comfortable but it is adequate so Fred can take his time {Of course, if it is not put together by Christmas, I will probably be making foot-tapping noises and looking at my watch a lot! }

Today is the anniversary of my arrival in Vermont six years ago. We are going out to eat tonight to celebrate the fact that I am working on my seventh year of l iving with Fred. And may there be many more is what I say!

Definitely many more. Happy ‘anniversary’!!

When I’m on placement I work shifts, so I have similar feelings about RealSaturday. Usually I prefer to do any shopping on other days, since I hate crowds dithering in my way! Happy Anniversary!

Have fun on your date, you lovebirds!

I used to love Walmart, now mine drives me up a wall. It is the worst of the worst of our town crammed into one messy place. I feel claustrophobic there. Unfortunately, I have to go there sometime soon to return two items I bought for my Mom. Oh the joy of it all. I am much more a fan of Target now. They have put one near my house, which may be the downfall of my checking account 😮 )
