Physical Therapy & Cleaning up
Whole days seem to be getting away from me!
Yesterday I had physical therapy and, again, Candace worked me very hard. She is still into pointing out to me how much better I am able to do things than when I started. I want to say, "Right! I get it! I AM improving!" but I didn’t and won’t. I am now convinced that I AM getting and WILL get better and be walking without a stick eventually. But it does no harm to encourage me.
One thing I have noticed is that when I try to walk without a stick, my rear end sticks out which not only contributes to the lurching, but gives me a painful backache. So, now I am concentrating on a straight back with good posture and my butt tucked in. {The nuns would be proud! } This morning when I got up, I could definitely feel a discomfort in my left leg! So, I didn’t do any of the home exercises today. Exercise will be resumed tomorrow.
Today I started moving stuff around in the workroom and actually got the floor clean. I was sitting in my chair wet-mopping the floor and scooting around. Then I noticed that the chair was leaving grubby little trails so I also had to clean the rollers on the chair ! I also got about 15 books listed on Freecycle and picked up. I love it when stuff gets picked up when it is supposed to.
Fred is making something that is making the whole house smell good. Whatever it is will probably be eaten with cornbread which he made earlier this afternoon…
Done today:
- floor of workroom cleaned
- stuff for ME ordered from Amazon
- books picked up from my side of the bed and sorted into keep and give away stacks
- give away stack {about 15 books} has gone
QUOTATIONS:
"Step by step. I can’t think of any other way of accomplishing anything."

Yes! You WILL walk without the stick! 🙂

Yes it’s not like you to have days in between entries is it? Keeping in constant positive mode must be hard-going sometimes but you’ll get there in the end.

I chuckle at you walking with your butt sticking out!hahaha sorry but(butt) it just makes me chuckle. You have permission to always have a good chuckle at anything you find funny in anything I do or write about. I can stick my finger in one ear and tickle the other side of my head, I am a man after all! have fun…dan

It could be an age thing. My mum says that when you get a certain age everyone talks to you like your only partially there. She probably doesn’t mean to be a pain by the encouragement but I get how it could be annoying. I can remember when you were really struggling before surgery. It’s a ton of work to get better.

I can appreciate how hard it must be to have patience with this therapy….. and I am so glad to hear you are improving. Yes… you will do whatever you set your mind to do!

I love getting rid of stuff and you’re right, it’s so lovely when someone says they’ll pick something up at noon and then they follow-through! Hope your left leg feels better tomorrow.

That PT isn’t easy but you’re a trooper. Funny about your washing the floor sitting in your roller chair because I brought my computer chair on wheels in to take the decorations down off the Christmas tree. I had to get up once in a while but I got a lot done sitting down. Back pain is not funny.

I saw a woman today who had flames on her cane, similar to the ones painted on a motorcycle or show car. You’re getting there on the PT!

Before my father got to the point he couldn’t do it any more, he would mop the floors just like you describe! It was much safer for him rather than try to walk on the wet flooring. (((Hugs)))

I love your determination and just plain grit. I also bet that one day you will be walking without that stick too — I need to use that tuck in the fanny trick too — I’ve never heard of it before, but it makes perfect sense.

My uncle has just had a partial hip replacement and seems to be recovering well. I think he’s 88. I’m sure you’ll eventually be able to walk without the stick.

I think it’s wonderful that you have found a way to mop that works for you.

Sometimes I have no clue where weeks go. 🙂 Usually when I’m insanely busy.

I don’t lose days, but I lose months! I look up at the end of the month and have NO idea where it all went. It feels like it was just the frist, and it’s suddenly gone. I do it every month. Must mean I’m busy enough, but gosh! I don’t mop as often as I should. I’m working on that. Love to you! ~M
