Personalizing the IMac

Today I spent most of the day making this IMac mine.  I downloaded Firefox and set My Useful and Important links in the toolbar. I am sure I haven’t got them all but so far I have got Open Diary {of course}. Verizon’s net mail site, {because I have to call Verizon to get Thunderbird set up properly} Amazon, {for Kindle goodies} our bank {I check this almost every day because a while ago we found something on our list of transactions  which neither of us bought– and upon notification. the bank quickly put the money back in the account}  PayPal, {and I am surprised how many businesses are starting to accept Pay Pal} and American Express because I use my Amex card to pay for my Kindle purchases and I ALWAYS pay these charges off pretty well as soon as they appear.

I got some good information from ODer BedlamHillFarm on setting up my printer but it is so old that the HP download site didn’t have a driver for it for OS 10.5.3 otherwise known as Leopard. So, I decided I wanted a new printer and bought one on line from the Small Dog Electronics site. I decided to pay to have it sent to me rather than go the the actual store to pick it up. Shipping costs are $13 which I think is reasonable. It is supposed to be here in three days.

Fred and I are going to the diner this evening because one of Fred’s daughters sent us a bunch of gift certicates for his upcoming birthday.

I ended up buying a new printer when I bought my computer, too. My printer was about 4 years old, which is pushing it anyway.

Woot! a new computer AND a printer. *sigh!* And speaking of PayPal, I didn’t get your payment. I hope it didn’t get lost somewhere…..

I am jealous of your Mac. I really wanted one, but no one around here sells them, so I got stuck with yet another Windows piece of garbage. Oh, well. I use Thunderbird on the laptop — thank god for Mozilla!

Sounds like a very nice productive day. And you got to enjoy it by going out to dinner with a special person. It just doesn’t get any better does it?

Thanks for the note 🙂 Took me a long time to bring myself to do it, but I actually had my first appointment with one yesterday… not sure about it, but going to try it

If you like firefox… look for the download for “morning coffee”. It is a button for the toolbar that will open you list of sites that you like to read every morning. I have a lot of comics I read… It will open on specific days that they update or as many days a week as you like. I absolutely love it. Completely spoils me in the morning as I click once… and just close each one as I go.

I like the idea of gift certificates that give a person a night off from cooking or doing dishes! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

New printer, too! Nice. RYN: Yeah…I think only other teachers can relate to that overly tired feeling. I only let myself feel the tiredness all the way after the students go home.
