Over Half Through!
I have, as my Auntie Babs used to say, "broken the back " of what seemed like a huge task of matting or mounting 10 drawings for my portfolio."Breaking the back" of a task means that one has it half or over half done. I have six done out of the ten I have to do. This is due on Thursday so if I plug away at it, I should get it done easily. I have to be sure each one I have done has my name on it and that the actual portfolio envelope also has my name. I don’t know how long she will keep them before handing them back…
I have washed three loads of clothes and am now waiting for the sheets to dry. I will then put them back on the bed. I get where I wash a pair and then put them back on until I get tired of looking at the color. These are pale blue.
I am thinking about going back to the new art supply store that Fred and I found the other day and looking for a drawing table. This idea of cleaning out the corner and setting up my supplies is not something I am going to think about for a long time and then never get round to doing. I KNOW that even if for some reason I don’t take a class in September, which I AM expecting to be able to do, I will still go on with my drawing. I would like to have my area set up before I leave for England on July 14th. And I am planning on taking my small sketch book and my pencils with me.
It is hot. I walked up to the drug store to get a prescription Fred needed but that took, oh, twenty minutes and I was walking very slowly. But that is the extent of all the walking I will be doing today!
Until later…
I use that “breaking the back” expression too. 🙂

Glad you’re not overdoing it in this heat.

That’s the first time I’ve heard that expression and I love it! I’m going to try to incorporate it into my vocabulary 🙂

Well, if what FD said the other day in her diary about the heat up north is like what you are experiencing then you all are hotter than us right now. Our nights are still very cool, to the point that my ac doesn’t run at night hardly at all. This is all very unusual btw. I am so happy you are back to art since you seem to love it so. I wish I had a talent of something, but alas, I don’t.

Having your own space to do what you really enjoy is just wonderful.

Good for you on getting so much done with matting and mounting. I love the idea Fred had for your studio corner. We did the same thing for Jo, setting her drawing table up in our living room, until she needed more room and we set up a little room for her in the basement.

You’re going to England on that day? COOL! I’m going to Florida on that day 🙂 Have a good day and keep up with drawing… you might create a masterpiece if you haven’t already. Talk to you later, -James
