Morning Chores and Physical Therapy

Fred tells me that we are about to have more snow starting this afternoon of evening so we headed out to do the chores this morning. First was to stop off at the drug store to pick up Fred’s medication and, yes, it was the proper price today. {And they seemed to have the screen of the new till fixed, too}

Secondly was to stop at Costco to return the Roomba and to ask where the yeast is and buy some. Fred dropped me off right in front and I stood in line at the returns counter. But, since they had three people working, I didn’t wait for long. One of the inconveniences of walking with a stick is that one only has one had to carry things. The Roomba is heavy. As I was struggling to get it out of the cart, a very nice man who was standing in line behind me rushed forward to help and the help was very welcome. He carried it up to the counter for me and I got Fred’s money back. But, alas, I forgot to ask about the yeast, so, I am still almost yeastless! Finally, Fred took me down to the library. He parked in a 30 minute waiting place but I was out long before that and so we came home.

When I got home, there was a message from the physical therapy place on the answering machine saying that the docrtor had faxed them on November 11th with the permission  for more physical therapy. Yes, you read that correctly!  A month ago! Alicia was very apologetic but "no one had told me." She isn’t the usual person who does the scheduling so I took it no further..

Anyway I now have an appointment for this coming Thursday and three more twice a week after that which will take me up to Christmas.. Now, I have already mentioned to these people that somebody needs to keep an eye on the charges because there is no way that I can pay these prices if Medicare doesn’t cover the therapy.So, when I brought this up again, Alicia went to check my folder and, with a total hip replacement, as long as the doctor agrees and I am showing improvement, there is no capping charge!. Right now, I can walk maybe three or four steps without a cane and then I start lurching all over the place. The lurching eventually causes my back to hurt. Oh, and I will not be with Leslie before Christmas because Leslie is taking time off. Instead, I will have Alice {who is not to be confused with Alicia!} . I have had Alice before and she is, like Leslie, excellent. {This means she is a person who really makes me work and push myself! }

All my appointments are in the afternoon so that Fred can take me and fetch me home. A lot depends on the weather. If we don’t have the storm the forecast is calling for, I can actually walk up there! With a stick, of course. I am really happy to have these appointments. I really really want to be able to work without a stick!

I am so glad that you are getting more physical therapy! Yes, someone really did an “oops!”, didn’t they? I would like a little snow. It is 70 degrees here right now, which makes it a little difficult for me to get into the holiday spirit!

I hate the stick too. I don’t use it often and I have a quad cane to that, but it sure comes in handy. But not when you have to carry anything at all… I’m glad you’re enjoying the wrap. I am amazed myself that it is so warm, but yet so light. Helps with hat-hair 🙂
