Morning
Italian Phrase of the Day: {These come from An Italian Phrase a Day desk calendar} Ho una buona idea! I have a great idea!
My comment on this: Ho una buono idea anche! Guarderemo un film. The Princess Bride? "Come vuoi!" I have a great idea also! We will watch a movie. The Princess Bride? "As you will!"
Guess what is happening tomorrow that I am so excited about! Tomorrow is the first day of Italian II. The class starts at 11:15 but I need to get down there a bit earlier to find out which room it is in. I assume it is the same room as Italian I and I know the time is after Italian I which is being offered again this semester but unconfirmed assumptions can lead to confusion on the first day of class. Hmmm, I could probably call the front desk and find out although I seem to remember doing this for Italian I two days before and being told they still did not know! But surely they will know the day before?
While I was driving back from my massage yesterday, I was wondering whether or not Fred had gone to the store for groceries. The big thing, of course, was did I have to leave my car parked on the street so he could get in. Well, it turned out that he had got back just a few minutes before and had very sensibly left the back of his car open so I could bring the last of the groceries in. So as soon as I saw the trunk lid still up, I drove in behind him. The big thing, of course about not leaving my car on the street overnight is that I will be fined $35 a night if I am caught. Both Fred and I were caught last year when the date when it was OK to leave one’s car on the street overnight was changed. And I am determined that they will get no more of my money! Of course there is a very good reason for no cars on the road during winter. It is so that the snow plows can come through and clear the roads.
Plan for the day:
- finish the test in Italian on Chapters 1-2. I am avoiding it because there is a section on prepositions!
- clean the kitchen floor
- get my books together for Italian II!
- continue read Sue Grafton’s latest book.
Ok, off to do the test….
QUOTATION FOR THIS MONTH: If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment. — Marcus Aurelius
Until later….
I LOVE The Princess Bride!!

I just finished S is for Silence, even though I’ve had it for months. I was able to read it during the Christmas break. What do you think of it? Or is “T” out already? I haven’t even looked. I’m the same way about doing something new–I get there early to allow time for getting lost or having to do unexpected things.

I was telling someone here about how you couldn’t have cars on the road in NY this time of year and they were like, “That’s a dumb rule.” I replied, “Well it’s better than having your car plowed away by a truck.” It dawned on them then that I am from snow country!! Good luck with Italian 🙂

good luck with Italian tomorrow. Not that you need luck for that, but enjoy yourself!!

So are you planning a trip to Italy?

The car thing would be a personal crusade of mine. I just hate to pay for “stupid” things like that when I can avoid paying if I just think a bit!

I was going to say, it’s a bit harsh of them to fine you!!! But I suppose they have good reason for it…

How exciting to start Italian II! Good for you!
