Morning

Italian Phrase of the Day: È nell’umore per ailimento italiano? Is he in the mood for Italian food?

My comment on this: No, non è nell’umore per ailimento italiano.  È  nell’umore per ailimento giapponese. In qualsiasi modo, preferisco l’ailimento indiano. Amo un pollo al curry piccante! No, he is not in the mood for Italian food. He is in the mood for Japanese food. However, I prefer Indian food. I love a spicy chicken curry!

Last night our landlord was cleaning the snow off the deck and Fred invited him in. Bryce {landlord} asked if he could bring Izzy, his German shepherd dog in and so we got to meet her again. She is a nice dog and very obedient. Bryce says she tolerates men but she really prefers women. This was evident because she came straight to me. She doesn’t have Malcolm’s {the dog of the former landlord} personality but she is OK for a dog! You can tell I am not a dog lover, can’t you!

Anyway, Bryce and Fred sat in the dining room and had a couple of beers. I went to bed about 11:30 so I have no idea when Bryce left. One thing I did think was that Bryce must have had a couple before he came downstairs or else he is very susceptible to alcohil because his speech was definitely slurred!

I just got a phone call from the library that a book I want to read is in. I don’t remember the title but it is the latest in the Bookman series. I told them I would try to walk down there today but have just realized that today is Saturday which mean that they close at 1. {Looks at watch} Ok, it is 10 am. I ought to be able to pull myself together enough to get down there by one, right?  Another thing I want to do today is to get three days of snow pileup off my car today so I can drive to get a massage tomorrow!

Time to get the rest of my breakfast. I have already had a slice of homemade bread with Marmite. Now I will have a banana and a cup of coffee. Then gather up my library books, put on several more layers of clothes, plug the Ipod into my ears and off to the library.

QUOTATION FOR THIS MONTH: If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment. — Marcus Aurelius

You do SO get points for walking in the cold!!! I wish I could send you some of this warm. And as usual, your massage sounds soooo lovely!!!!! Have a great day! Love ya! ~M

RYN: You are also one of those Fixed Life people. And I so admire you. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I would LOVE to lock my mother in a room with you until you rub off on her!!

I am saying a little prayer that we don’t get a lot of bad weather in the morning. It has been a very mild winter in KY so far. It’s always nice to have a good relationship with your landlord and it sounds like that you all do have one. Enjoy your new book and the rest of your weekend!

The car shoveling off will be a good warm up for your other activities…and a good book is the reward. Not bad.

Your mention of marmite reminds me that it gets mentioned in the latest Isabel Dalhousie book by A. McCall Smith, “The Right Attitude to Rain”. I bookmarked the place so I could tell you about that. 🙂 There’s quite a long bit about marmite, actually. I will tell you that it is described as a “salty black yeast paste”, but after reading about it in your diary I found that page hilarious. (ch.5, p.62)

A new book, that is wonderful. Mom gave me $20. for my birthday and I spent it all on books.

Have you tried any of the curries from http://www.tastybite.com or http://www.kitchensofindia.com? We buy them at Whole Foods, and all have been very good. They are ready to eat, and don’t need refrigeration. They are all natural, and no preservatives, so healthy as well!
