Morning
"Under a Patterned Sky"
I went for a 30 minute walk this morning at a timed speed. I am very pleased I could do this. It is sunny but with a nice breeze so although I did work up a good sweat, I was not physically uncomfortable.
I am going to go on putting in a manipulated-with-Paint Shop Pro photograph for a few days until I get bored with it. This one started as an evening on Lake Champlain picture. I put a patterned sky in there and enhanced the orange color a little bit. One thing I am noticing about my photographs which was also true of my drawings is that I tend to put the object of interest smack-dab in the middle of the page. This is not necessarily bad but often a more interesting picture is formed when the center of interest is off-centered.
Tonight is the book club meeting and I hope I will get to see Martha who is the local coordinator for the Everyone Wins reading program. I got a letter announcing the organizational meeting at our local school but no time! And, of course, I cannot for the life of me remember what time it was when I used to go up to school to read with Nick! And also, I am wondering if I actually need to go to this meeting since the letter said it is for new people and I am a returning mentor. Martha is very well organized and will know all this.
Things to do today:
- dishes
- another walk
- vacuum the carpets
- go to the book club meeting {and return my library books when I do}
Ok, that’s it.
Until later…
Number of Steps on the pedometer for yesterday: 4373

I really love that picture.

Another great picture, and although the hull of the boat is “smack dab in the middle,” the mast and the sail are not, so it really doesn’t appear to be in the middle because the greater “weight” is on the right. I like it.

I never thought about putting things off center really…. good idea!

I wear a pedometer every day, too. Of course, I don’t get above 2 or 3 thousand most days, so I really admire your activity. LOL!

My art teacher taught me to create interest in a piece, compose it in half vertically and in thirds horizontally. Objects you want the eye drawn to should be in the left half or right half and the horizon should be top or bottom third depending on what it is. That tends to be the way I take photographs now as well as paint, always with the focal point off centre.
