More PT

Last time I went to physical therapy, I finished by riding the stationary bicycle and I didn’t do too well because I was tired. I was thinking I would ask to do that first today because I knew if I wasn’t tired, I could do the ten minute. However, before I could say a word, Leslie said, "Would you like to try the stationary bike first?" So, I did 3 minutes with a 30 second break, another 3 minutes, another short pause and then 4 minutes to finish. The hardest exercise was the one like lunges only done lying on my back on a machine with a bar at the end where I put my feet. I had done this the last time I was there but she really upped the tension this time and she was constantly saying "Flatten your back!" Actually, I quite enjoyed flattening my back because it eased the pain I have been having there! The rest of the session was doing the same exercises as last time but more of them!

After that, I drove up to the grocery store we use because there is also a branch of the bank there. I cashed the two checks, which means I have a bit more money in my purse than the lone $20 bill I have been looking at for six weeks–and then went to get a gallon of milk. On the way to the milk, I spotted some beer that Fred likes so I picked it up for him as a little thank-you present from me because he has been so helpful to me, {And because I love him and like buying him gifts }

Because I always do so, I had parked at the far end of the parking lot of the grocery store not realizing how difficult it would be to push a cart and use a stick and not realizing that I really was now beginning to feel the effect from the physical therapy.  But I slogged on, lurching around in a most ungraceful manner, got the milk and the beer and then drove home. I had just about enough energy to get the milk and beer into the house before I was totally ready to fall over! Fred very kindly got me my lunch and I have spent the rest of the day resting/dozing in the air conditioned bedroom.

Things I want to do tomorrow:

  • try for half a mile of walking
  • do the assigned physical therapy.
  • find my bathing suit or something I can wear for physical therapy in a pool on Thursday
  • do a last sweep through the house for library books
  • write the rent check for next month’s rent
  • go to the library
  • read!

You and Fred are very good for and to each other! It sounds like you had a great PT session today, albeit a very tiring one!

Go you! The next time I am having a hard time getting my rear off the couch I’m going to think of you working so hard to bounce back from this surgery. You don’t let anything keep you down for long! p.s. – I bought a bread machine the other week and I have been loving it (maybe a little too much, mmm bread.) I know this is something you and Fred do, too, I can’t imagine how I enjoyed bread beforethis. 😀

Sounds like a good workout! Whew!!! Hugs, M

You’re probably far fitter than I am! A gallon? That is a lot of milk!

I love your to-do lists, how carefully you plan the next day! I am kind of the same, always scribbling in my day book what I will do that day & the next. Anna

I’m getting on with that painting and have reached a point where I can see the end. It looks good and is a better version than the previous effort. I’m taking it slowly though, as I’m overloaded with other problems.

I hate pt when I’m doing it, but it feels so good afterwards.
