More Moving Contempations
I was thinking about this move this morning and realizing that after all the mess and trauma of the actual move, how great it is going to be to move into a new apartment with Fred.
When I moved here to live with Fred seven years ago, one of the things we agreed on was that we should look for a new place to live together. I really didn’t want to move into someone else’s place especially a place where that person had lived for ten years before *I* came along. At the time, Fred said he would enjoy making a new home with me.
So, I moved in and I started to look around the neighborhood a bit. but, after a time, I realized that I really liked ‘the garret", as Fred calls it, a lot. There were, of course, inconveniences like having to pack off-season clothes in boxes, but Fred had a computer table bought and put together for me before I moved in. {Hey, the man knows what is IMPORTANT! And after my younger son {who came with me to make sure Fred wasn’t a serial killer} unloaded the car, the first thing he did was to hook my computer together for me–another man who understands what is important!} But the inconveniences were minor and there were many positives.
Out back there is a great green area with trees. {Of course, it is prettier from upstairs but that is a small thing.} We have a really great mixture of people on our street. Across the road and on the corner there are retired people and next door there is a family with two nice small children and a new one due in October. The town is small {one square mile} and not picturesque as some Vermont towns are but it has bike paths and parks and a library all within walking distance. Within a very short driving distance, we have easy access to a supermarket and a huge teaching hospital. Burlington waterfront is a ten-minute drive away. Burlington has the Fleming Art Museum, the University of Vermont and the Community College of Vermont all within a short driving distance of where I now live.
And where I will continue to live!
So, now all I need to do is to fast-forward through the next couple of weeks! Hmmm, where is that fast-forward-my-life remote when I need it!
Today’s List:
- a walk
- dishes
- out to buy groceries
- pack a box or two of books? The problem is storing these boxes…
- hide out in the air-conditioned bedroom from the heat forecast for today…
Until later….
Your town sounds absolutely perfect! The only thing I miss about living in a town, is being able to walk to places like store or library. Here’s wishing you a wonderful day! hugs, Weesprite

Ah, those boxes! There seems to be a psychological block between you and those boxes (I noticed how many you packed yesterday! LOL) It will be great!

🙂 you will get there and it will be great. 🙂 happy packing today – you’ll feel better when you have put some books in that box 🙂

Does it really pay to box things up for a move down a flight of stairs? I’d think a “bucket brigade” approach, passing stuff down and putting it right in place would be less work than packing and unpacking boxes.

Although inconvenient, it’s quite fun (sometimes) to make a wall of boxes, and keep track of your progress by the size of the mountain. Just make sure they don’t block the bathroom door.
