Money Back & Stuff To Do

Yesterday when I was reading in the Kindle forums, I saw a thread about claiming a rebate. Rebate?   I read more and discovered that Kindle has come down $40 in price. Hastily I checked when mine had been bought, and yes, it was within the 30 days return time. So, I dashed off a note to Amazon and got email back in an hour or so stating that they would refund $40 back to my credit card! Now, actually, this is Fred’s money and it will be returned to him eventually. What he did was to put the $400 from his personal account into our partner-household  account and then I transferred that money into my personal account. I then bought the Kindle with my American Express card which I always pay off in full every month! We did it this seemingly complicated way because if I bought the Kindle with my card it would automatically be registered to me. And, as I have said before, I use the American Express card to garner "points" which I then use to get a gift certificate and buy free clothes from Land’s End.

Yesterday Fred said he thought that the tomato plant wouldn’t get enough sun where it was so I went out to look at this morning. Right now it is in the shade, So, I will move it to the other side of the deck. Actually, it isn’t on the deck at all; it is on the grass right by the steps going up to the deck. This morning is still chilly but I don’t mind this at all because we have SUN!  I don’t even mind the long Vermont winter too much as long as we have sunshine….

Things I want to do today:

  • Keep checking the tomato plant in relation to sunlight
  • Check my Amex card on line to see if I get the $40 credited today.
  • If I feel like it, go out and buy another "gun" to put on the hose. There is one on now that belongs to our landlord but it has no "gentle shower" setting. Since I use that hose to water my plants, there is a tendency to blast them out of the boxes! And, yes, I know it I turn the hose on just a little bit, that will cut down on the blasting, but I have been known to forget that. I had a really nice water sprayer last year which I carelessly left out all winter and which then lost several vital and important parts…
  • Use the new secateurs to cut away that annoying vine which is trying to grow into my bird feeders…

Great news! An extra $40 is always welcome! What kind of soil mix did you use for your tomato plant? I grew tomatoes in containers (really large ones) a few years ago and I was disappointed with their tomato production. The plant looked great, but few actual tomatoes. I don’t know what I did wrong.

Random noter – what is kindle, if you don’t mind me asking? We have kindling wood for starting fires but I’ve never heard that term.

Problem with growing here is the soil temp isn’t warm enough yet. If you can build a small greenhouse cover that would bring temp up I bet it would help. And you can bring the plant in over winter as the tomato is everbearing and will overwinter as long as you pick the fruit. Keep the suckers off and you will get good fruit till after xmas. have fun..dan
