Monday is Laundry Day
This morning Fred and I were both up in the Wee Smalls. It was around 3:30 I think. I very often wake up around that hour, look at the time on the digital clock across the room* and go back to sleep, but this morning was one of those when my eyes pop open and my brain slides into gear and that is it. No point in even trying for more sleep. He was up first and when I got up, he put the morning pot of coffee on. I read my email, read the few favorites who had updated and ate a slice of toast and Marmite. I also blew my nose many times although, I am happy to say, nowhere near as many as I had to during the massage yesterday. But then I was not lying face down this morning either! Then about two hours later, and despite the coffee, a wave of sleep swept over me and I went back to bed. When I woke up again at 8:15, Fred was back in bed and as I write now at 9:30, he is still asleep.
* Looking at the clock across the room is a big deal for me even now because I still rejoice in the fact that I can read the time from across the room. Before I had my cataracts removed and the lens that corrects the severe myopia implanted in my eyes, I had to wear an Indiglo wrist watch so that in the night I could bring it right up to my face and see the time. Fred’s clock with its large digital readout was just a red blur to me. Another change — this morning I am wearing my sister’s watch with the turquoise band, and even though it is a woman’s watch and smaller in size than a man’s watch, I can read the face. Before I had the eye surgery done, I wore a man’s watch always because even with my glasses on and in full daylight , I couldn’t read the face of the average watch made for women.
I have decided that for a while, every day I am going to wear one of the pieces of turquoise jewellery that belonged to my sister. I don’t think I will need to do this forever, but right now it seems important to me that I wear something that reminds me of her every day.
Ok, time for a list! Today I am going to do the following:
- wash clothes {already started}
- wash yesterday’s dishes
- go for a walk
- take my camera and make some close-ups of an interesting bush I see when I walk. The bush has some tiny, bright red berries and I want to do a pen and wash drawing.
- which reminds me I need to check on the actual day my pastels class starts in September. I am thinking the 5th but it would probably be a Good Thing to have the exact date and time. {I do know the place because it is the same room where the summer drawing classes where held.}
- Possibly start sorting out the shoes that Fred wants me to put on Freecycle for him.
The timer for the laundry is buzzing so I am off to put the load in the dryer and another load in the washer…
Until later..
Number of Steps on the pedometer for yesterday: 4667
Yes, you are correct. Only one walk.
do you know what I’m doing today???? Making bread 🙂 A side note: it was a pain in the butt to find gluten at the grocery. For some reason they had it in the organic section and not in the baking section. I’ll let you know how it comes out 🙂

I would rejoice, too, if I could see ANYTHING from across the room except a blur.

You’ve done more today than I accomplished all weekend. 🙂 I think wearing the jewelry is a lovely thing, truly. Be well,

Today is my laundry day too. I recently read in a book written by a female M.D. that taking a calcium/magnesium supplement, with water, before bed will actually help a person sleep better. It is good also for helping to keep hormones in balance. Sounds good to me!

Wearing your sister’s jewelry seems a lovely way to remember and pay tribute to your sister.

I think wearing the turquoise is a good idea. I recently read in an article that turquoise is is a great healing stone. I myself like it because it’s simply beautiful, but the extra benefits it may have doesn’t hurt either. Have a good day!

The jewellery idea is a great idea. When you start that new course I’ll be turning 47 – what a thought!

RYN: I copied that last entry of mine off of an email and that is how it came out. I didn’t want to take time to redo it. Should have though it would have looked better. I just loved the way it was written. It really is very true.

Laundry evening here. I spent the weekend visiting and gallavanting about, so now I’m forced to do the weekend chores NOW… But whatever. I had a good time, so who cares? I understand about wearing the turquoise…When Gary first got sick, I placed many of his possessions around my house. It made me feel closer to him somehow… Hugs. Love you! ~M
