Miscellanea

Can  you believe the SECOND person on the Freecycle list hasn’t come by for the Wacom pad? I am half inclined to toss it into the trash! It is really old and the pen needs replacing…

I was just thinking yesterday that I need to take more photographs to play with the Corel Painter program when I suddenly realized that the new printer I bought a week or so ago is actually a SCANNER, too! And in a big envelope under my desk are many many photographs from the days before Fred got a digital camera! So, that is what I plan to do today. Hmmm, maybe I should say maybe because I haven’t got a great track record of doing things on the day I say I will do them. However, eventually, they do get done— mostly

In a total change of subject, I was on the verge this morning of seriously downloading a little program for the Mac that would make a sound like a cat meowing when I plugged or unplugged anything into a USB port!

I WAS going to make this a bulleted list but for some reason the bullets are not working for me this morning.

Another change of subject here… I don’t know why I have such a great dislike of using the phone. Thunderbird, my mail program of choice, downloads all my email to my desk top, but I have to go to the Verizon netmail site to send email. This means, of course, that my settings are not correct. Which means I have to call the people at Verizon’s help desk to get this set up properly. Long time readers know how much I just LURVE Verizon,  {insert a huge glob of sarcasm here} the wonderful people who took over a month to move the DSL connection from the apartment above to the apartment below when we moved…

The book club meeting last night was good. I had to show the Kindle all over again because Beth {not the massage Beth but another} was not there last month and so missed the previous demonstration. Unfortunately, this month’s book has not been Kindlized and so I will have to read a dead-trees book!

RYN: Thank you so much, P – you might have some idea, since you’ve been there, how much it means to me that you’ve said this – about never having had to “prove” to anyone that you’re actually feeling what you’re feeling. I mean, if I’m able to come out to the appointment, I’m going to be “at my best”, as it were. If I can function to make it out of the house, I’m not going to be a non-functional,quivering mass in your office, for goshsakes. More and More I’m thinking that I might not give her the one more – but I may. Making decisions right now isn’t one of my strengths, either. How do you deal with your depression? Is it currently affecting you? You’re such a wonderful person, I’m blessed to call you friend. 🙂 {{HUGS}},

I like how you love your kindle so much, and now you think of “those dead trees books” as being a bit quaint and obsolete. :o) !! It’s like me, with the Cub Cadet mower Joe insisted on buying for me….now when I see someone mowing on one of those “old-fashioned mowers with a steering wheel,” I think it’s quite droll! About the cat-meowing sound. It would be funny to have a program that just causes randomly-timed meows to come from the computer throughout the day. I’d always be looking around, wondering how Pinky got into the house! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

“dead trees book”? Yikes! Now I’m feeling all guilty for not having a kindle!

Loved the ” dead trees ” remark. Always great to start the day with a chuckle! Hmmm, a cat meowing. I wonder if there’s one with a puppy barking? Hugs, M

I find I rarely use the phone also! I e-mail like crazy -tried to get my mother on-line, but that didn’t work. I only pick up the phone to see if there are any messages.

I love the “dead trees” book reference. Except that it’s so on target. I loathe all the junk mail I get every day — coupons, credit card and mortgage offers, etc….. so much waste of paper. I carry it directly from my mailbox to the recycle bin. And what I really detest is all the huge phone books that get delivered to me each year…. at least four of them. I don’t even use phone books anymore. They, too, go directly from my doorstep to the recycle bin.

I think that most printers now have scanners etc. Roz just bought one and says that they’ve gone down so much in price recently as well.

I need to get a Kindle. I hate causing trees to die. Scanners are awesome. My mum scans the pictures that we send her of the children to send via email to other relatives.

I guess it’s true what they say, if it’s worth must not be worth much. Your people must think that too to not come by.

On the last flight, I read Three Bags Full, a murder mystery where the detectives are sheep investigating the death of their shepherd. Brilliant!

That’s weird that two people in a row haven’t come to pick up FREE stuff! Good grief. I’m still longing for a Kindle. I have a current “Kindle Fund” that I am throwing a few dollars each paycheck into. (((Hugs)))

that cat meowing program would be funny! My cats would be alarmed, I think. I need software that makes mouse noises for their entertainment.
