“Malicious Mischief” & A Plan

When I got home from the hospital, I saw some paperwork on the table that really should have been  sent back three days ago, but, hey, I had other things on my mind, right? So, I made the  changes indicated, stuck it in an envelope, and decided to use the letter as an incentive to go for a walk to the mailbox about two and a half blocks away.  Then. if I felt like it, I could go on further for the walk and if I didn’t, well, I had done something, right?

As I got near the mailbox, I noticed that there were three teenage boys and a girl hanging around that corner and throwing snow at each other. And, as I watched, one of them, the tallest one, opened the top of the mailbox and dropped a handful of snow inside!

So, I walked up to them and asked in {in a pleasant and friendly tone of voice}. “Don’t I know you from the library? It’s Mike, isnt it?”

Now, I had never seen him before but one of the other, younger boys fell into my trap and said, “Nah! He’s Ethan.”

I got out my notepad and pen and started writing saying, “Ok, Ethan. Tall, about 13, red fleece hoodie, short haircut, glasses…” One of the other boys asked why I was doing this, and I said, “Oh, this is so I can tell the police who put the snow in the mailbox when I turn you all in for malicious mischief…” They scattered like snow in the wind not knowing that I had no intent of calling the police and just wanted to put a big scare into them. And, of course, I did not put my letter in that box.

Plan for tomorrow:

  • Get up early enough to go for a walk.
  • Drive to the grocery store and get bread, milk and a couple of other things before going to the hospital.
  • Get Fred’s walker out of his car and put it in mine to take to the hospital.
  • Remember to put the afore-mentioned letter in the mailbox up at the grocery store.
  • Unload the car and put groceries away.
  • Head out to the hospital around 10 am. {This is when visiting hours begin and at that time it is really easy to find a parking place.}
  • Visit Fred and leave his walker. Yes, they DO have them at the hospital but his has wheels AND a seat!  {Although, I did remind him that he may not be able to use his walker if he has to carry his drip along with him. But he wanted me to bring it anyway.}
  • Visit Fred for a couple of hours
  • Wrap Christmas presents when I get home.
  • Perhaps another walk?

And to be able to do all this, I have to get a good night’s sleep, so I am going to turn the TV and lights off at 10 pm and see if sleep comes.

Until later…

LOL! You tell them! And I hope Fred is feeling better, heart attacks are very scarey. A month after LS turned 40, he had a heart attack and ended up with a triple bipass. *shivers* I was very scared. *huggs*

Fred’s illness is no match for a woman who can single-handedly wrangle a bunch of unruly teens. Sleep well.

Hee hee. Nice job with those kids and the mailbox. 🙂

You’re just kickin’ ass all over town, aren’t you? I can just picture the scene!

Wow, you do keep your cool in every situation! Good for you! I wish I had seen those kids hightail it out of there. LOL

That was so cunning! They’ll not do that again. 🙂

I hope Fred is doing much better! And sounds like an interesting day tomorrow. Good for you about those kids.

Laughing at your way of handling the kids. LUCKILY they were good kids deep down…I have to tell you, I’d be afraid for your safety in some neighborhoods saying that. Still…a very cool move 🙂
