Lunedi Is Monday

Our network is back! And it was dragged back from wherever it was {carousing in some low dive, I would say} by something as simple as unplugging and replugging the new router!

The visiting nurse/physical therapist came this morning to assess the apartment. If I use Fred’s walker, I will need to back into the bathroom, {this is doable} and it will make things easier to get to the bedroom if we can move one bookshelf in the hall leading down to the bedroom. She was very helpful in showing me exactly how to get in and out of a chair and promised me she will go over these things several times.

I called my older son at work this morning to be sure I had the correct phone numbers for him so that Fred can let him know I am ok after the surgery. Actually, I am pretty sure I did have the right numbers. It is the younger one who has a tendency to change numbers on me, but I sent him email asking for his number.

All I need to get now is the seat to raise the toilet. Oh, and get my hair cut. Apparently since we have a rather deep bathtub/shower, I will be doing sponge baths and washing my hair in the sink for a couple of weeks.

QUOTATION: If you have the courage to begin, you have the courage to succeed.

To-Do List:

  • toilet seat–probably today
  • hair cut–possibly today
  • change library books tomorrow
  • start on floor cleaning tomorrow, perhaps? If not then later in the week. We have company coming this weekend.

Wow, you’re really planning out all the details, aren’t you! I’m surprised that you’d get your hair cut, since you always keep it short anyway, don’t you? That’s very cool of the nurse to show you how you will be able to move and navigate before the surgery so that you can practice and think about it. I’m sure it will make your recovery that much easier.

I like how you plan the details of things and think of everything….or nearly so. It’s so important when one is getting ready to have surgery! I hope if I’m ever in your situation I’ll do the same thing. The time is getting short now; soon you’ll be on the road to recovery! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

I’m so glad that you have a visiting nurse.

If only all computer problems were that easy to solve. Great!

Every time the electric flashes on and off here for whatever reason, we have to unplug our router and plug it back in.

Visiting nurses are wonderful and of course we’ll be here for you online.

Ah getting ready, being prepared, must make you feel a bit more in control of things. 🙂

Glad your computer is back up. Did your visiting nurse mention a hand held shower head? YOu may already have one of these, but once E could get in and out of the shower that’s what he used. It’s much easier because if your in a shower chair you can’t just turn like you would normally do. Also, do you have any throw rugs down? If so, did she mention pulling them up for awhile? They are easy to

easy to get your walker caught on and therefor a tripping hazard. You said she taught you how to get in and out of a chair, how bout your bed? These are just things that E went through so I thought I would mention them to you. That way, if you needed to you could aske her about them on her next visit. Hugs, M

it sounds like you will be taken good care of … and I’m still impressed by how organised you are. Wonderful. Did I ever mention that you are an inspiration?

Okay. I should have thought to tell you that. If your network does ever go down again, always try unplugging the router for a little bit, and then plugging it in again. That happens with us all the time. We have to unplug the router two or three times every week.

What? No shower chair or tub seat for you? Hmm. Love to you! ~M

I sometimes have that problem with my network as well. I don’t know what in the world it is or what causes it, but every so often I need to do the same.

When I had my shoulder surgeries….no showering was the worst for me. With hair all the way down my back, washing it in the sink is a significant accomplishment! 🙂

You are so ready for this…more ready I think than the Dr.’s!
