I am trying to decide what to do about this sleep-a-few-hours followed by up-a-few-hours-followed by sleep-a-few-more hours pattern I have got into. My choices are to not worry about it and hope it will correct itself or make an appointment with the doctor and get some kind of sleeping aid. I am inclined to let it go for another week or two at the most and see if it corrects itself. I am avoiding naps and that may help. I AM getting enough sleep–about 7 to 8 hours which is my usual amount; I am just not getting it all at one time!
This morning, after sleeping from11 pm until 2 am and from 4 am until 8:30 am, I tried to go for a walk but only managed a walk up and down our street. However, at just after 3 pm, I have just come back from a full half mile done easily and with very little stopping. The weather is fantastic. The temperature is a sunny 78 degrees and there is a cool breeze.
This afternoon I have physical therapy at 5:15. I hate having it so late in the day but that was the only vacancy Leslie had. I think it is in the morning on Wednesday and I know it is at 3 pm at a pool on Thursday. I do have all the times written out but they are in the workroom and I am lounging on the bed using my cute little Apple Mac Book.

I think that once you get back to being able to be more physically active, the problem will probably take care of itself! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

It depends what you and Fred are doing from 2 til 4 in the morning. If it’s what we all are thinking, than we are all just cheering you on and saying ‘you go girl, and way to go Fred!’. Who the heck cares about sleeping thru the night? have fun and let us know who does this remarkable surgery and rehab…dan

I think that if this problem doesn’t resolve itself before your trip, you should speak to your dr. The deep sleep is what rejuvenates us and makes us not feel as tired. You are not getting that right now because of the interrupted sleep. I agree with Woodsprite that perhaps it will return upon more activity and also I would limit naps until this resolves. (((Hugs)))

Oh for a cool breeze..it is 101 as I type this at 2:55 p.m. I too think that once you get more active the sleep patterns will return to normal. When the weather is hot an afternoon nap just seems like the thing to do. Think I’ll take one after I post this!!

I would avoid pills if possible. I’m betting it will put itself right.

I’ve been into that sleeping pattern myself this summer…because I can. I talked to a doctor about it years ago when I had fallen into long daytime naps because of the heat. Naps are deadly…decrease the amount of quality sleep you get at night. Cut out the naps and the rest will correct itself. It took me a couple of days.

no naps for a few days and if the problem continues, talk with your doctor. are you in pain? is that why you wake up in the middle of the night? good for you… getting in a half mile so easily!!!! take care,

Does it really matter WHEN you sleep as long as you’re getting enough to feel rested and functional? It’s not like you’ve got to get up to go to work in the morning… You’re probably still waking up in the night because your hip is making you uncomfortable and rousing you to move around and stretch it. (with my sore neck, I haven’t been moving around as much as i usually do, and rolling over in bed is very uncomfortable, so I’ve been waking up once or twice during the night most nights.) If you don’t feel exhausted all day, don’t worry about it! (huggles)

I love this weather too! Have you ever taken any sleeping pills? I cheat and use one Tylenol PM if I’m going through a bumpy patch. It puts me back on track, but I’d check with the doc too.

It might just be the way it is supposed to be for your sleep patterns at the moment. I am against drugs for going to sleep. Anyone that I know that takes pills to help them sleep is hooked on them.

It must be frustrating for you, but I’d be inclined to just put up with it for a while and hope that it changes. I’ve heard that sleeping pills can make you feel tired even after your eight hours!

The weather sounds great! I’m sorry you’re not sleeping so well…I use OTC sleep aids sometimes when my sleeping patterns are off. Those probably aren’t very safe tho…:O I hope you get back into a more regular pattern soon though!
