Little Christmas Day
Italian Phrase of the Day: Sciaremo negli Alpi. We are going skiing in the Alps
My comment on this: Non sciaremo a Vermont perche oggi abbiamo la pioggia ! We are not going skiing in Vermont because today we have rain!
I have been for a walk this morning in the rain with Leslie, my walking buddy. It was drizzling slightly when we left but when we got about half-way through our mile-and-a-half, it was raining quite heavily. We continued on despite this, however. Leslie has long hair and her jacket had no hood so she was definitely doing a good imitation of a drowned rat. I was a little better because I had a hood on my windbreaker so was able to keep most of the rain off me. I will go out later today unless it is bucketing down. Hmmm, even if it is bucketing down, I do have an umbrella.
This morning I got up at my usual time, somewhere between 6 and 7 and was in the kitchen making coffee when I hear the bedroom door open and out came Fred! Now, this is most unusual since he normally goes to bed around 2 am and gets up somewhere around ten-ish. And he was fully dressed, too, which meant he was wide-awake! Anyway, he had his coffee, had something to eat and a few minutes ago, went back to bed to try again! I can’t do that. With very few exceptions —yesterday being one of them– once I am up, I am up for the day. However, yesterday I felt so much better after I had the one-and-a-half hour nap, it was quite clear that is what my aching body needed. I went to bed around 11-ish last night and fell asleep normally and woke normally this morning. If I take a nap I don’t need, I have a lot of difficulty falling asleep!
Today is the Feast of the Epiphany otherwise known as Little Christmas Day {or the Twelvth Day of Christmas} and so when Fred gets up again, we will take down the Christmas tree. Now I am off to count in Italian and do an exercise on verbs…
QUOTATION FOR THIS MONTH: If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment. — Marcus Aurelius
Until later….
I love that quote!!

My tree comes down today too, but only because I finally have time to do it. Hubby is Ukrainian but we don’t celebrate Ukrainian Christmas on the 7th, like his parents do.

It rained yesterday, but today we have sun and seventy degrees!! I had the number “twelve” in my head, but I thought Epiphany was January 12th for some reason…. so that is why I’ve been saying I’m going to take my tree down on January twelfth. Now I must decide if I want to take it down today instead! hugs, Weesprite

My tree comes down today too. 🙂

We didn’t put a tree up this year. I’m a fan, but David isn’t so much so I left it be. But NEXT year, there will be a tree! I missed it. Love to you! ~M

We took down our tree last night.

I’d send you 12 drummers drumming, but you probably don’t have room for them in your little apartment… Hee hee hee Good for you, walking in the rain. Whenever I do that, I start “Singing in the rain, I’m singing in the rain…” and try to tap dance like Gene Kelly.

Yes, today is the day to say goodbye to the tree for another year… or 10.5 months… I took down the wee ones in the kids’ rooms this morning while I was getting them dressed and beds-made. Now I just have the behemoth to deal with. 🙂

Fred was up at 6:00? Did he see his shadow?

Again you inspired me! I just finished taking my tree down, too. Now there’s more room, that is for sure! Thanks! hugs, Weesprite

I took down my tree and decorations too. It was time.

My tree came down on the 26th. The darn cat just loved to tree surf and was breaking ornaments in the process. I truly think that it is raining everywhere. We are getting our fair share in Kansas City too! Keep dry!

I am going for my walk with the dog now, as soon as I’m done with this note. It’s not raining here, but has been awfully warmish still. The sun is finally fully set, I believe. I took down my teeny tree today too, and didn’t even know it was the Feast of Epiphany, so thanks for that info! Hope you get a good night’s sleep tonight. Hugs,

Patrisha? I haven’t heard that name since the 2nd grade. Pain… they taught us in the Marines that it was weakness leaving the body. I’m allergic to pain and discomfort.

Oggi abbiamo anche la pioggia. Well done for your walk in the rain. Sean encouraged me to go walking anyway yesterday too and I admit I did feel better for it – even if I got rather wet too.
