List for Today– edited

  • go to bank to deposit check and order euros. {This is a branch bank and very small so I have found that I have to give them a few days when I order foreign currency}
  •

This is done and was very interesting. I can actually buy travelers checks in euros! So, I downsized my cash request and got the rest in travelers checks– much safer. Also, my debit card is now tagged as "being in Italy" for the dates I will be there so that there will be no problem with me using it there!

  • be sure to check at bank for surcharge for using debit card in Italy. {If it is high, I will up the euro order a bit. Conversely, if it is low, I will go with original order of euros. Debit cards are much easier than having to keep up with a lot of cash.}

One percent of whatever I buy which is reasonable.

  • wash sheets. {Hmmm, I actually mean let clever machines wash and dry sheets}

Done. Washed, dried and put away.

  • go for a walk. I am planning to do a mile. If I feel ok, I may up that a little bit. The weather is cool. and sunny.

A mile and a bit. I am very pleased about this since I was a little apprehensive. The last time I did a mile was a week ago when it was hot and humid and I got dizzy. Today I didn’t stop once on the walk down to the park and only stopped briefly two times on the way back.

  • do home exercises and practice walking without a stick and without lurching–a very new skill!

I haven’t done the exercises yet but I have practiced walking by pushing a cart around the store when Fred and I shopped for groceries today. I went to the bank and he gathered up a basket of food and we met at the meat counter. Then I put the groceries into the cart I was leaning on  and we added a few more things like eggs and milk. I did the standing in line bit because it doesn’t hurt me to stand and I can also practice putting weight on the left leg.  We brought the groceries in together with some help from our landlord, and then I put them away.

  • go to library? Yes, I think so. I have read two of the four books I brought home .

I didn’t do this since I have two books I haven’t read.

  • call drug store and check on the prescription for the 5 mg of nortriptylene.

I did this and I can pick the prescription up tomorrow.

  • eat a banana and drink coffee. {One slice of toast has already been consumed}

Done!

  • work on packing list for trip in TWO WEEKS!
  •  get on line at Lowes and arrange for a gift card for my older son for his birthday.

The last two items are not yet  done and will be on the list for tomorrow, I am exhausted. I grabbed a book and have been lying on the bed for a couple of hours. I think physically the hardest thing today was walking around the grocery store with the cart. I did use it for support but I didn’t lean on it too much. I was concentrating on keeping my back straight and putting weight on my left leg.

I have to make lists or I’m sure to forget something and thank heaven for Yahoo Calendar and its email reminders of what I have to do each day. I envy you your trip. I would love to travel to Europe or even across Canada (to Vancouver where my son lives would be marvellous.)

Walking without lurching…that’s a goal I’ve not seen on very many lists. A good one, though. I can’t believe that the trip is only two weeks off! Woo-hoo!

Ah, to be in Italy. The countryside, the ambience will perk you up. Be mindful of the cobbled streets.

I hope you manage to do everything on your list. Wish I could go to Italy. I’ve never been there and it sounds a lovely country.

Oh, those clever machines! Remember when we had to wash our sheets down by the river, beating them on rocks and then draping them over bushes to dry? LOL (I actually went through a time when I had to wash diapers on a scrub board and hang them in an attic on clothesline to dry. Then there was the wringer washer. I like all my mod-cons. Good for you, doing your home exercises and walking, Patricia.

Well done! You got about 80% crossed off, and that’s quite an accomplishment, considering how long the list was!

You’re amazing at how well you’re doing and how quickly you recovered. Your doctors must want to use you as an example to all their patients.

Woohoo for walking around the grocery store!!! You have come so far! Hugs, M

You have made so much progress in the last couple weeks! I’m glad your walk today went very well….hot humid weather is a lot more tiring than decent weather! hugs, Weesprite

This is a good example for not letting this problem go too long before getting some help. The treatment is getting so good that it can be done sooner rather than later with better results in much less time. Way to go P and have a super time in the Old Country. They are in for a treat with your coming to them. have fun…dan

The kids haven’t noticed yet, but it’s a new year and most of them didn’t know me from last year. It’ll be interesting when I run into kids from the past 2 years or throughout this year as the weight keeps coming off! Haha! What did you teach?

I have been reading as I have dashed around lately- glad to see all is going well for your trip- have a wonderful time! I look forward to what I’m sure will be fascinating updates…

How exciting! I’m going to enjoy reading about your adventures.
