Later on Monday
Tomorrow I have to go to the library not only to take my two books back, but also to deliver my old cell phone for a freecycle {http://www.freecycle.org} person who is coming in on Wednesday evening to pick it up. When I used to work at the library, we opened up at 10 am on Tuesdays and closed at 7 pm. {I went home at 5 and someone else came in for the last two hours} Now I am not working there, the sign on the door says that “temporarily” the library will open from 1 until 7 pm on Tuesdays! Oh, and the library now closes on Saturday morning too–another job I was not appreciated for doing…
Things to do tomorrow:
- Get to Costco. We need cheese and I think I saw the book club book there last time I was up there. Mind you, it is very possible I won’t be attending the meeting next month since it is on the same day Fred is having surgery…
- Continue with my give-it-away-on-Freecycle-if-it-has-not-been-worn-for-a-year campaign.
- Clean out another drawer. What I am trying to do is minimize. I have pretty well got all my winter sweaters sorted and they are in three neat stacks so I can reach them easily. I am noticing that the same sweaters get worn over and over not because they are necessarily my favorites but because I put them on top of the stack after they come out of the dryer. So today I lifted up the stack and put last week’s at the bottom! It has just occured to me that I can clean out tomorrow’s assigned drawer tonight while I am watching “Star Gate SG1” reruns!
- I am finding the Palm Pilot very useful to list jobs that need to be done and it is a nice feeling checking them off.
Today I went to my younger son’s wish list on Amazon and spent a few bucks sending him three things that are on his list. I also got him some rather nice geek-type T-shirts from http://thinkgeek.com/ and a Linux fish for his car… I have no idea what to get my older son and his wife. For his birthday, I got him a gift certificate for Applebees since I know both he and his wife enjoy going there. Maybe I will call him and see if there is anything he wants. He is not as easy to buy stuff for as my younger son. For one thing, I know the younger one much better than his older {by 21 years} brother. The older one and I rather drifted apart for a good many years and although the fences have been mended somewhat over the last years, I still don’t know what he enjoys reading or doing.
Off I go to watch reruns and clean out at least one drawer…

I gave away half the stuff in my linen closet and now I find it very pleasant just to open the door and LOOK.

I found one t-shirt I like for one of my son-in-laws. It says, “No, I won’t fix your computer!” He’s done tons of work on our computers. LOL

Oh, Patrisha, come down here for a weekend and freecycle me! I need some help in the recycling department. For every item I toss out, I bring two more home. As for the elder son, sometimes a little chat will bring out the ideas on gift giving? Plus it’s a nice excuse to call him.

Patrisha, I sure admire all that freecycling you are doing! I think in the new year I have to start that — going through closets & sorting out stuff I will never wear & freecycling it. I have some stuff I haven’t worn in 10 years, at least. I am embarrassed to admit that! Of course, the library is not as efficient without you. Those dummies!! Good luck with your to do list! its amazing what stuff we keep that we really don’t need. I managed to condense all the stuff i had in England that filled my family size house including the loft and the garage which hadn’t seen a car in it for several years, into 2 pallettes full of shipping and there has been very little that i’ve actually missed that i threw out or gave to charity.
