Later in the Afternoon.
I did find a recipe for rye bread but we have no caraway seeds so that will have to wait until I get some.
Today was the last day of reading with Nick and to my surprise and pleasure his mother came! She took a turn in reading from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and, interestingly enough, so did Nick. So far, he hasn’t asked to read any of it but with his mother there, I guess he wanted to show off a bit. He did an excellent job of reading and he understood what he was reading. And, for the first time when I walked him back to his room, he gave me a hug! He promised me he would finish the book at home and I hope he does. Next week we have no reading but a pizza lunch for the mentors and the mentees and as many of their parents as can come so I will see his mother again. When she and I walked back from the classroom, I told her how much I liked Nick and how clever he was. She told me that he tells her everything we did every Thursday when he comes home! I told his mother how pleased I was that he asked if I would be his mentor next year too.
I walked around to the library this afternoon, returned the books I had and got three more. When the library moved to its new home in August, I will still be able to walk there but it will be a little longer and up hill all the way home! Well, since it is further, I can count it as exercise. Right now I don’t because it takes me all of three minutes to get there if I stroll! The new library will be a little farther than the post office and it takes me 10 minutes to walk down hill to that and 20 minutes to walk back up all the hills.
I thought I had given away all my summer skirts but I hadn’t. However, I am not going to wear one to this dance class this evening as I originally planned because they are all MUCH too big for me! I knew they were but thought I could improvise because they are all drawstring waists but none of them looked good. They are all the summery gauze type and need underslips. I threw away the long underslips I wore with these when I wore them to work. So, I have packed them all up and included seven or eight shell-type tops and posted them on Freecycle. {I was just going out for my morning walk when someone came driving up to pick up the box of plastic peanut packing filling! Yeah!} I have had good luck with everything I have posted. I have only had one person say she would like something and then not turn up so I gave her a day in case she wanted to call me and then offered it to the second person who asked for it.
In 45 minutes I am off to the school again to the other dance program I signed up for. I am tired but I will perk up once I hear the music. Fred said he will have supper ready at 7:30 when I get home and I will hold him to it! And I have a movie from Netflix to look forward to!
Until later…
Just found you through one of my favorites… Don’t you just love freecycle? I’m a member of my local group and I like being able to give my junk to others who may find it as treasure.

I am having quite a trouble with FreeCycle. Lots of people say they want the stuff but never pick it up. I will keep trying. There has to be some trick to it I haven’t figured out yet.

Ooh, which movie? I think you ought to be counting those hikes to the library. And that’s great about Nick.

It’s so neat that Nick tells his mom all about you and the reading sessions. He sounds like such a nice boy; he must have a good, caring mom, too. It’ll be kinda nice to have the longer walk to the library, though books can get kinda heavy to carry if you get many! hugs, Weesprite
